Triumph TR6 - General Info for the Canadian 6ers
Just thought that our Canadian owners would like the following info. Today I went to Canadian Tire and the nice young chap on the auto part desk did some research on what TR6 parts are available at their stores. Battery's Brake shoes/pads Spark Plugs Belts Thermostats Rad hoses Headlights Oil Pressure Switch U-joints Oil filter Fuel filter Carb Kit Les |

Les, What do U joints cost at one of these places? I was thinking about going to Autozone to ask the same question. Thanks, Tom |

While there are some exceptions, my general experience is that "normal" parts stores do not do parts interchanges very well, so most of the stuff would have to be ordered. Those orders are generally from some imported parts distributor. By the time it goes through the distribution system daisy chain, the costs are then typically higher (sometimes much higher) than what you would pay going through the usual suspects. Best advice is to be selective and scope things out through the outfits online stores to get a feel before you commit. |

Les Intersting. Back in 2000 I did a $90.00 exchange per front caliper. Carb kit may not be the best quality. Rick |

Les: Went to Canadian Tire looking for Bosch Platinum plugs for the TR6. I got so po'd at the parts weenie and his female colleague (can't call her a weenie can I?) trying to tell me that the TR6 is a motorcycle that I just gave up and didn't bother to tell them that the damn TR6 was parked outside on their lot - went home. Got the plug number off the net and bought them at Wal-Mart. Last time at Crappy Tire for this motorcycle rider! Cheers, Bob 1976 - TR6 (4 wheeler) |

Tom C CT List the U joints at $37.50 Cdn. Car Quest $29.00 Cdn. Bob Sorry that the Newfs think that all Triumphs are bikes. You were going to send me an e-mail about the heli-coils on the trailing arms...any pictures to go with that? Les |

I wounder how many Triumphs and I mean the 4 legged version out there are in need of a heli-coil fix and do not know it?? Kinda dangerous when you think about it. Rick |

Kinda dangerous eh? At the 1997 VTR National in Fort Worth a TR250 lost the wheel, hub, etceteras and so on when the studs pulled during the Autocross. Right hand rear if I am recalling it correctly. Ouch, that's gotta hurt! |
