Definitely scary looking. You indicate operator error, can you elaborate on that? I'm curious about both sides not either raising or lowering at the same rate leaving you in this precarious situation.

Steve- Operator error because the operator...ME... forgot to lock the swing arms in place.
I was raising and lowering a few times while I was doing something and I guess the front passenger side moved off the support.
Set it on the ground,took a lunch break and redid all the swing arms and made sure they were locked.

About a half hour later I was lowering it and wasn't watching. looked up and it was at a 45 degree angle side to side.
Forgot to unlock the passenger side when I went to lower it.
Fixed that and called it a day.

Don, want to make sure I'm following on the swing arm and then the lowering bit.

The swing or lifting arms are positioned and then are to be manually pinned in place. You forgot to pin them and in the course of raising and lowering had the left front swing/lifting arm shift position. You lowered the car, then after a break, repositioned the swing/lifting arms and made sure all were pinned and lifted the car.

Now you attempt to lower the car and wind up with the car at an angle on lowering which is attributed to forgetting to unlock one side when lowering the car.

If I'm catching all of this, the lift requires that you both manually pin each swing/lifting arm to lock it in place so they do not move through their travel arc. The lift then requires that you manually latch the slider block on each side for the swing/lifting arms at the desired working height to lock them in place and then manually unlatch the slider block on each side before lowering.

Is this a fair understanding of the operating procedure for the lift?

If so, then maybe a posted check list might be in order before raising and especially before lowering the car. At the very least, I bet you're going to be watching intently all lowering operations from now on.

Glad both you and the car made it through this little misadventure with no permanent harm done. After all, your heart rate settles down eventually and with the detergents we have today, those stains should wash right out as well.
