Triumph TR6 - Gone to the dark side.
I've sold my TR-6. You might say I gave it away as I sold it for what I paid for it 9 years ago. It went to a good home and the new owner is VERY pleased with it. I have purchased an XK8 Coupe. I've heard all the cutting remarks and snide comments and I've this to say. I can drive in the rain without getting my feet wet and, I don't have to polish it. When I drive it on campus, the coeds throw their panties at it. I'll monitor the site and keep in touch, as you guys are keeping a bit of history alive. If any of you get around Wilmington, NC, let me know. We'll have a wee nip and a game of golf if you wish. Joe Justice |

Joe: No need to explain upgrading to a Jag. Happy Motoring! Cheers, Bob 1976 |

Joe You and I have been on this BBS or long time. A Jag XK8 is a very fine example of a modern BC. Hope you do not get too many speeding tickets:) Thanks for all your input over the years. Rick C |

Hi Joe, Enjoy your Jag....If I could afford an E-Type I'd sell my 6 in a minute though I'd miss it a lot! I'm helping a friend rebuild a 66 E-Type 2+2 Coupe so I'm getting my fix !! Happy Vrrrrooom ! Charlie |

Joe, Congratulations on the new machine and it is pleasing to know you are willing to stay here and pass on the font of knowledge built up over the years. Pete. |

Congrats Joe - great choice of upgrade.....how long before the DB9!!? ;-) When you said gone to the Dark Side, I thought you meant you had bought another Triumph!! |

How is another Triumph givng in to the dark side? This is a trip the dark side, I thought he might have jettisoned the TR6 for a Camry. |

...sort of a reference to Lucas, the Prince of Darkness!! - but then again a Jag is now a Ford so it should be better.....(at night anyway!!) |

I also purchased an XK8 in May - it was a 2003 with 28,000 miles on it for less than $24,000. I haven't been able to find anything wrong with it - it drives fine and all the mechanicals and electrics work. I haven't figured out exactly why a car that currently lists new for $68,550, drops so fast in value. And I hope I don't find a reason! |

Hey folks, Lets be kind to Joe, after all I just did the same. I will sell my TR6 to the best offer asap. Now that my 2 year project will be complete this fall. It's a car marriage between USA and UK (no not Mr.Bush and Mr. Brown) 1966 AC Cobra. |

OOPS - I just read what I wrote - I bought an XJ8 - not an XK8. My bad. |

Marcello, Are you saying you found, and bought, an original real 66 A/C Cobra? Or were you working on replica? Even if I could get my dream cars (1960 thru 1967 Corvette or an early Jag E type roadster) I would keep my TR6. If I could afford either of those I could afford to keep the 6. After all, it's kind of close to my heart since I restored it. Send a picture of the Cobra. Henry |

Henry, Only 300 plus originals produced and about 100 in existence known, so answer is no I didn't find one. Not unless I shell out what Barret Jackson sold last one for anyway (4mil) I have been building it for oer a year from the best new parts available to best represent the real deal. Not a kit, this is manufactured. Both cars are a dream, I have lived my TR6 life now its time to move on to the other dream. Plus my marriage would be in question. |
