Triumph TR6 - goodwood

Hi Gents; I will be In GB during february next year and understand there will be something interesting going on at Goodwood late in the month. I thought I might try to make it. Is there a town near there where a man and his wife might find a pub with a room to let? We would be coming by train if possible. Would greatly appreciate any advice on offer from those on that side of the pond. Thanks.

Every block has at least four pubs!

Hi Joel. I cant imagine what may be going on at Goodwood in Febuary? But if you find yourself there best look at Bognor Regis as it has many hotels and is out of season , about 15 miles away or Chichestera beautiful old English town even closer. Take a good jacket! Clive

Clive; The Motorsport Festival is scheduled for February 21st. Probably not much but as I will be there anyway and have never seen Goodwood, I thought I'd take it in. Thanks for the information. Sounds great. As far as the jacket; oooooh yeah. We spend a great deal of time in GB and February and March are our favorite times. Coming from a warm clime, we find the cool temperatures quite refreshing.

You might also want to consider a proper English umbrella. I've owned a Brigg (in beautiful hickory) for several years now, and I wouldn't ever consider anything else. A Brigg has the traditional silhouette, unsurpassed materials, and durable construction that is the world standard. It is often said that one does not own a Brigg, one only cares for it for the next generation. Ask Prince Charles - he carries one. And as you get older, those in hickory oak, etc, are also suitable for use as a cane, when coming in out of inclement weather.

Here in the states, you have two options: Find the fine menswear store in your area that carries Brigg umbrellas (at last check , there was at least one in every continental state). Call them and ask to be notified when the representative from the Brigg factory is coming for his annual visit. Meet with the rep, who will show you a variety of their items and help you select the wood, fabric and size and style that suits your desires. (Sorry, but the model with the .410 Shotgun in the handle is not available in the US, but models with a flask in the handle are!)Pay the seemingly exorbitant sum, and wait several months for a call from the menswear shop. Hopefully, it will be raining buckets when you pick it up. You will then learn the joy of hearing rain BOUNCE off of the tightly stretched fabric and NEVER having an umbrella turn inside-out on you again. Don't worry, you will never lose it. You will love it so much that you would never lay it down on a bus or train.

The second option, of course, is going to http://swaineadeneybrigg.com/content.htm
but that's not very exciting now, is it?

Oh my! I seem to have digressed a bit fom the original topic, which was ..... oh yes, Goodwood! I love the yearly Speed Channel Goodwood wrap-ups. I'd love to visit the annual Festival of Speed myself someday!

Enjoy your trip!

Joel. You might try searching on the web for Pubs and hotels I remember a pub called the White Horse at a village called Chilgrove, but try searching for places in Chichester Clive
