Triumph TR6 - Happy Birthday USA!

Happy 4th of July to our friends in the USA. Hope you have a great and safe celebration!

Today's the day we celebrate the thrashin we gave to the Tories
DON KELLY

Don,
Actually it was given more to the Hessians and Cornwallis' regulars. There were a fair number of loyalists, many of whom left the country after the War either to Canada or to England; some back, some who had been born in America and had never set eyes on England before.

King George and his advisors really screwed up giving up what would become the most productive nation in history, but what'd he know!!

A proud day to recognize the sacrifices of those who pledged their fortunes, lives and sacred honor on the altar of liberty for us all. Let's just make very sure we don't waste their efforts and those of countless men & women since who have kept us free for these past 233 years.

Ken, thanks for your good wishes.

Tories as in the Brits back in the 18th century or as in conservatives (Republicans).

A proud day indeed! I have been vacationing in the USA since the 60's and in the past 7 years have spent 3 month intervals annually there in an RV. I love US history and the geography plus I've come to know some great people. When you take the turkeys out of the equation, America is an awesome place as y'all know.

In late August my wife I plan to travel the northern states and then south into Utah to spend some time in canyon country. Two months in all. Also, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, South Dakota have adventures in store either on the way or when returning home.

Looking forward!

Ken,
May I suggest a side trip to Bryce's Canyon, should your travels take you near there. Little heralded, but awesome!

It's #1 on our list when in Utah Doug, thanks. Since the rims reach as high as 10,000 feet we could not venture up there from AZ in all the years we'd finish our winter escape in northern AZ in April. Heck, one April in Monument Valley we got snow at Gouldings.

Won't miss it this time. Hope to get down to North Rim also.

A great nation indeed and a lot of well earned pride. So much to see and do too. I lived in the St Louis area for a couple of years and absolutely enjoyed our time there.

I am pleased that I have been able to travel extensively in the US and Canada and have traveled to every state and province but Alaska and the northern territories of Canada and am very proud that we share the longest undefended border in the world. But I do find it sad that due to the 911 aftermath the crossing of the border has become more difficult with extra security checks and documentation needed.

Perhaps going north to Alaska and the territories may make a good TR6 ride but it will have to wait for my retirement.

My wife and I have a TR6 weekend trip planned into the Allegany mountains in Pennsylvania on our August long weekend. And a side trip to TRF of course.

Have a good trip Ken. We hope to spend more time in that area of the US in the future. Thanks for the tip Doug.

Michael, Ken,
There are many many areas of common interest that bind our Nations. When a student at the National Defense University in Washington a few years back, my area study was Canada. In the course of a semester of study and travel, I was awe struck at just how much we "south of the border" do not really know about Canada. Our largest trading partner by far, far outstripping the ENTIRE Pacific rim although with China in the mix now, I'm not sure how that'd play out. I learned that we're intrinsically linked to one another. An example-the US imports 100% of it's potash requirements from Canada (it's cheaper ) and Canada reciprocates by buying 100% of it's phosphoric acid from the US (no production capacity). It should not go unsaid that we've stood on each other's flanks in every conflict for the last 100 years anyway, often when others chose to run and hide or shied from the responsibility. We value and too are very proud of our neighbors. Lastly is that most of the TR-6 owners on the BBS are Canadian, so we have to love ya!

Hi to Everyone,

My wife and I just returned from a cross continent drive... Although I am still working on my beloved TR6 and intend to have it on the road later this summer, I found an MGB LE with 23000 original miles and in very nice condition... in the Philadelphia, PA area. We picked up the car a week ago and enjoyed the trip back across the US mostly keeping on secondary routes with a side trip to Cambridge ON for July 1st. In all we traveled about 3400 miles and enjoyed the July 4th festivities while crossing N. Dakota and Montana on Highway 2. The route through Glacier National Park was a highlight although all sorts of sights from upstate NY to the wide open plains gave us pause to consider our beautiful countries. We saw only one TR6 on our travels near Whitefish, Montana, and exchanged waves as we sped in opposite directions with tops down. I would like to encourage all who can take the time to cross our countries at least once by LBC : we live on the most diverse and beautiful piece of continental real estate the planet offers with great neighbors both north and south... enjoy it!

BTW, Bryce Canyon , the Oregon coast and Zion National Parks are definitely on our LBC tour agenda.

Cheers, Rob
