Triumph TR6 - Happy New Year
Happy New Year I was thinking of Pete Thomas and him having a barbie in Oz, so I took this photo to make him jealous of Canada. The bar closes in March, and before you ask the single malts are locked away. Les ![]() |

Les, Single malts are not to be saved nor locked away. They're to be savored, particularly among friends. Whisky does not ripen in the bottle like wine. While there are those who buy to invest, most of us buy to enjoy. Just had a taste of a 50 y/o Glenlivet right before Christmas. Now THAT's celebrating!! db |

Doug Having lived on Speyside and Morayshire for quite a few years (Ex Royal Air Force) one of my duties was to take visiting Air Forces airmen on the "Whisky Trail". This was a hard task but someone had to do it. My mention of the "Singles" being locked away is to prevent my wife from offering to those who take whisky and add ginger ale or worse such as coke. I have a dear friend who visits from St.Johns Newfoundland and we sit down and relax with a few good noggins of single and discuss the finer points of life (no politics, no banking etc) only the times when we were young and how kids today have it easy. So thanks for you points and CHEERS as I sip a large Bruichladdich. Les |

Les, Thanks for the thought and being this far from Nova Scotia I am pretty sure your single malts are safe. My personal favourite is either Talisker or Glenn Levit as both are very drinkable and just so smooth. Your comments about coke and other mixers brings to mind a true story of some years ago when my then newly married sister in law made a brandy sauce for the Christmas plum pudding using her new husband's prize bottle of Napoleon brandy ! Her logic was it was in the space under the stairs and covered in dust anyway ! They are still married. Thanks for sharing , Pete. |

Les, Pete, I too could tell tales of whisky abusers. Coke...geezz!! At our Wee Dram Society's end of year celebration in November we were privileged to enjoy Linlthgow, 37 y/o, 127 Proof Glenlivet, 31 y/o, 99 Proof Bunnahabhain 37 y/o, 97 Proof Ben Nevis, 32 y/o 99 Proof All cask strength as noted and just for the fun of it, a bottle of Pebble Beach, a really fine new Single malt, 10 y/o, 86 Proof. We had fun. db |
