Triumph TR6 - Happy Thanksgiving -Alternators

Happy Thanksgiving to ALL.

We had our big fill of food on Sunday just so that I could spend the WET nOVA sCOTIA Monday on the project (have to find a name for the 6).

Anyway I need a little help as I can't find my copy of CD 2, I am sending this request from my garage vis the laptop technology is great. And so to my technology question (and yes I did search the archieves). The alternator that came with the car is not Lucas but is a 2 Pin Delco Remy with the following numbers stamped on the case 1102 440 & 2C14, I checked the Delco website but the numbers could not be found. So I know you chaps (and ladies)are better than any computer system. So my question is this "is this Delco Remy a suitable direct replacement or should I expect some other unforeseen electrical modifications? I have the original electrical loom on the bench and so far have not encountered any problems and it is as per the wiring diagram.

Thanks

Les- Is this a later car, don't remember. The later ones had the Delco in them.

Happy Columbus Day.

Mine is a 75.5 so I guess the Alternator is correct.

Hope this is the correct model.

Les, I have one of those alts. on my bench. Yes it was original. I can't remember the numbers on it now but I will ckeck for you. I replaced mine with a 10s 65 amp. GM alt. because with an elec. fan, that little 34 amp. GM alt. didn't cut it. The local Lucas auto elec. shop said they hadn't seen one in a long time, but apparently they were also used on various BL tractors.

BTW, my car is late '72

Thanks for the reply. I have thought about an electic fan, and am still thinking. However I ma installing an electronic ignition probably the Pertronox system unless folks out in BBS have other thoughts. Is your GM 10s65 a straight fit (2 pins)? did you have to change the pully and fan belt size. Is it made by Delco?

Thanks

Les, my alt. numbers are 7982575 01 NB(?). the important numbers though are DN460 12v 35A, this is the model and amperage of the alt.

Yes I nave the 10s 65 amp. GM alt. The place I bought it from gave me a new plug for it and marked them BAT and IG. I then one at a time pulled a wire out of the orig. plug and put it into the new plug and soldered them so there are no more joints than nessesary, plus it just looks cleaner.

To mount it, most guys have had to cut the lower ear to make it fit the bracket on the block. I just flipped mine upside down and it fit good just like that. You have to have the earlier alt. bracket though.

I wish I knew who to give credit to for that idea, but I can't remember, wasn't my idea though. I remember the person wanted to find a way to mount the alt. without mods. just in case it had to be replced on the road. It is a straight bolt in now.

No pulley change was required. It came with the right size and lined up perfectly.

If you do this, try to find an alt. bracket off of a Dodge Ram, apparently a perfect fit for the top bracket.

Thanks for the information. Any chance of a picture?

I think I may have lead you astray just a little. I beleive I did have to put in a spacer between the bracket on the block and the ear of the alt., just as piece of pipe I think. Sorry Les, no camera.
