Triumph TR6 - HEAD

I AM BUILDING A NEW MOTOR FOR MY 6 AND AM INTERESTED IN SOME NAMES OF SOME SHOPS TO BUILD ME A DECENT HEAD FOR IT. IT WILL BE ONLY A STREET MACHINE SO I DON'T NEED A FULL RACE HEAD. 9.5 COMPRESSESSION FLOWED PORTS ECT... ANY IDEAS FROM THE MASSES. THE WORLD IS MY MARKET SO ANYTHING FLIES.
THANKS

I would go to any speed shop or hot rod parts place and ask them who is the best machine shop in your area.
I just had my head rebuilt by local NAPA shop which I found by asking at garages and hot rodders. There is nothing unusual about a TR6 head that they can not deal with. I would buy bronze guides and stainless steel valves. I got my stuff from Rimmers in the UK and took it to the machine shop. Also have them put in valve oil seals. TR6 did not have these but Rimmer has them as an extra to cut oil use, good idea.

DICK,
THANKS FOR THE INPUT BUT I AM LOOKING FOR MORE THAN A REBUILT. I AM LOOKING TO GET ONE GAS FLOWED AND MAYBE OVERSIZED VALVES. PORTED AND POLISHED TOO

Don,
Glad you have at least a partial answer. But please unjam your CAPS LOCK key - the rest of us are deafened.

I have a 1975 carb version with an aenemic 7.5:1 compression ratio. I need to get my valves redone and was thinking of increasing the compression while I am at it. How high should I go keeping in mind that Canadian gasoline is very low on octane (peaks at 91).

Second question is to achieve this wonderful new compression, how much needs to be shaved of my head?
steven

Steven,
To raise CR to about 9.5 you will need to skim the head until the vertical wall nearly meets the horizontal squish area opposite the plug. That 91 octane will not help- you may well have to retard ignition ( or can you add dope?.

this site will open your eyes to what is possible.
You can spend upwards four or five thousnd dollars
and only get 165hp out of that overweight inline six,
spend that same amount on a a ford 302 0r 5.0 and get 300 - 350 hp and still have your Triumph look stock.
