Triumph TR6 - Heat Shields

I see a heat shield for a TR6 bonnet. Anyone have an opinion about these things. Do they really serve any purpose other than fattening someones wallet.

Looks like something to buy for your baby for Valintines day. Well done though.

Adds some conversation piece, looks nice and probably offers some noise insulation. As far as heat shield, I have not heard of damage to a hood due to engine heat. Only time will tell if it offers prrotection to the hood finish over time.

Why would you want to keep the heat in? I would think you would want it to dissipate. It does look good and it probably does deaden sound. Maybe it's too keep the heat from getting in :)My 2c

I've bought and installed one. Really looks very good.
There are some TR's who have had paint problems on the hood due to heat from the engine. But that was not my problem.
It's sound insulating and really looks good. The heat is absorbed and the hood stays a lot cooler, also fire retarding. Perfect fit. Finishes of the engine bay.
