Triumph TR6 - Help
Need help in identifying a part in the TRF rebuild kit for the headlamps. Anybody??? http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/donkelly23/HeadlightPart.jpg |

Don, I'm looking at Plate EE in TRF's VOL II "Headlamps and Front Sidemarker Lamps" and I do not see anything remotely like the photo you show. Are you sure this came from the lights?? Now I understand why you're having difficulty getting this hummer reassembled:) db |

Hi Don, the part is for the early model headlight buckets..'72 or earlier I think. It is part of the retaining clip that attaches to the lowere edge of the bucket and holds the headlight trim ring in place... I need some too. It should have a spring riveted through the hole and the two tabs bend outward to hold it to the bucket.... does any of that make sense? Rob |

Don, don't quit your day job and become a photographer. Chris |

Don, Look at the first diagram on this page: http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/rimmer/triumph/tr6/elec-lamps Or this one http://www.rimmerbros.co.uk/tr6/images/106a.gif And click to enlarge Your part looks like #21. 21. Clip (spring, rim retaining) - (2) - BAU1460 Hope this helps Sylvain |

So it's a 2 part deal I also got the front part. Interesting my 71 didn't have the part I photo'd |

Rick or Rod- You want to take your headlamp apart and take a couple of photos to show how and were the trim clip is held with. |
DON KELLY |
WHAT????? You want help from a lowly 74 owner???? Actually I will, but it may be tomorrow night but Saturday at the latest. Let me know if that works. Chris, I'm glad it was the photo, I thought it was the Scotch I had last night. Thanks! Rod |

When ever you can. Thought I should let you know we are getting snow today so Rod, don't put the snow shovel away! |
DON KELLY |
Don If you are talking to this Rick, well I do not have that piece at all. My trim ring is held in place by friction. Have not lost one yet. I am like what you see in the TRF book. Sorry, no help from me. Rick |

Hi Don, I have a pair of original Stanpart buckets (and front fenders) that came with my 74. These clips look a little bit different but they are inserted thru the holes and the small tabs are peened over. Hope this helps. Tom,thanks the 1'st pic looks like my photographer came by but it gets me an idea. |

Don, Whaddya mean snow? The forecasters here are saying 55 and sunny on Saturday. I'm going for a DRIVE. How 'bout that?! (but it is snowing here today) Rod |
Rod Nichols |
We got 8" of that 55 and sunny last night.Creates havoc with the girls softball team. |

OK ,everybody scrunch up your eyes to put another photo in focus. I seem to have a problem with the camera with closeups. http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/donkelly23/Part1.jpg I figured out the deal, what the pieces are for. The silver piece attaches to the back bottom and the tabs go through the hole and get flattened out. The rim clip then gets pop riveted to the silver piece from the front. I had pictures in sequence but they were so fuzzy I couldn't stand em! _________________________ |

Don Sorry but no pop rivet. It is a stainless steel countersunk head self tapping screw. Can't get the headlight apart to adjust the angles or change the bulb otherwise. Reghards Tim |
T Sharp |
Tim, Naw, I don't think your looking at it right. This has nothing to do with the aiming of the headlights. Just keeping the frickin trim ring on. The adjustment bucket doesn't play into it at all. I'd attach a photo but have finally figured out that after my son threw it at his sister and jammed the lens, which cost me a couple of hundred to fix,it still don't work. |
DON KELLY |
Don Agreed, nothing directly to do with, but you need to get the trim ring off to change the headlight alignment or the bulb. If you have pop riveted the trim ring on then it's a drill out job? Easier with a screw? Tim |
T Sharp |
why would you need to remove it? The rivet is independent from any adjusting or light changing. The clip is there to hold the chrome trim ring on only. It fits onto the body of the headlamp bucket and sits behind the adjustable rim. See photo http://i123.photobucket.com/albums/o316/donkelly23/Allputtogether.jpg |
