Triumph TR6 - HELP

Over torqued a bolt in the crank sealing block of the front of the engine. Already have the front engine plate timing wheels, chain and timing case cover on and don't really want to remove to get to this damn aluminum thingie. What'd y'all think? Leave it as is and maybe expect an oil leak; remove and replace with a new one; replace with a billet steel one or use a helicoil insert? Engine is still a work in process so taking stuff apart again is just another few days in the shop, new gaskets etc. Also the TRF Blue book lists hardware that is/was different than what I had on the engine. I'm pretty sure the engine has never been touched so think the hardware was original. Any thoughts? Thanks.

I Told you you should go with the new one.
You KNOW what you have to do now!!!

Had breakfast with Rod on Thursday and some of his co horts from the Seattle TR Club.

Spent some time with him at the Van Dusen ABFM today.

Hey Don,
Lucky you. Give Rod my regards. Yeah, guess I'd better get that damn steel one and take everything apart again!!

Doug

My perfectionist way would be to rip her down again and replace with the steel one since you still have it out of the car. But ultimately it is your time and money.

Based on input from most of the guys on the BBS, you will have an oil leak somewhere no matter what you do so it may not be worth the time and expense.

What hardware was different?

Can't see very well , but here's Rod and I discussing the pros and Cons of owning an Aston Martin DBS

DON KELLY

The Con part of it was only $334,000. If I sold everything I own, house, truck, wife's Acura, the TR6...all of it probably wouldn't make the down payment. At least I can stare reality in the face....
Wow!
Hey Don.....what were the pros again?????

Now that I think about it, that was Canadian dollars....whats the exchange rate?

:)

And I look back at the pictures again, the price was for a Bentley CGT Supersports. Ah..well....I can't afford the Aston Martin anyway.........
Rod Nichols

Yea you can, all you would be left with is the wife
