Triumph TR6 - Heroin, Cops, and the TR6

I couldn't sleep last night (like 2:00 AM), so I went out the the garage to watch TV. I settled on the TV show "COPS" and there was an episode where some bad guys in Florida were selling Heroin. When the undercover cops moved in for the bust, when of the undercover vehicles was a green TR6!!! I laughed my tail off - first time I'd ever seen a TR6 in law enforcement! Those crazy Florida cops!!! It must be the heat.

Bob-In the TRF vol. 1 catalog, page 29, there is 2 references to PI cylinder heads for "police cars only". I have often wondered what "the rest of the story" is.

Police in the UK back in the 70's, used to have triumph Saloons fitted with the 2.5 PI Engines as patrol cars.

Colin-Thanks. I thought that would be the most logical explanation.

Well beat this.

Victorian Melbourne Police (Australia) used TR3a's during the early 1960s as pursuit cars. There is a photo of the Police TR3a published in the Victorian Triumph Club - TSOA Traction magazine July 2003.

I've scanned it in - would anyone like a copy ?

PS..can we attach/add ipg photos to the tread for all to see ? I assume not !

You could put pics on Webshots or something, and link them here.

TR3's as pursuit vehicles? Not here in the land of big iron. I remember the old highway patrol cars with a light on the top of the right front fender that said "pull over". Quite a difference from the disco light shows of today.
