Triumph TR6 - High Tech Head Rests

On the lighter side, I needed a fix for my headrests that kept sliding back down into the seat... they were not staying up behind our heads. So, I cut off a couple of pieces of hollow center pool noodle and sprayed them black... voila! The black looked a little better than purple, yellow, or pink. I'll check with Moss to see if they wanna grab this idea and pay me $$$.

You see, I can compete with all you technically minded BBS members.

BTW, I pulled out the front fender liners (splash guards) yesterday that are bolted behind the front wheels, cleaned house, extended the tubing I had installed for bulkhead drainage, and then sprayed some Krown Rust Control up inside. In putting the metal liners back there were challenges since the rubber seals did not want to stay in place when I pushed the mated units back so I pop-riveted (aluminum rivets) the rubber seal to the metal and all worked well. May not be concours but this step made things easier.

Cheers

Okay... dumb idea. On day two they look crappy except from a distance. No more Red Greenisms. K.

Not sure if you know this but you can buy SS rivets.

Your fender liners are not OE.

Rick... I may have misnomered on the terminolgy. In the TRF catalogue I think they are baffles and I've seen the term splash guards used. They appear in all the TR6 parts drawings whatever their name in front of the A posts.

Ken,
A liberal dose of silicone caulk may have worked better than riveting the seals. They are intended to seal the splash guards and there are little clips to afix the metal splash guard to the rubber seals. Also, while, I'm sure Krown Rust Control will guard against corrosion in that cavity, I'd opt for POR-15 for the whole area.

Hi Doug... well the job is done and I did see - all too late - that there were clips available. No biggy, my rivets worked well for the side that was hard to insert.

Krown: I have been using their product for eons (since the fanchisees left RustCheck and went on their own) and in this climate I swear by it. Condensation is as much an enemy to our cars as salt on our roads so since I don't winter drive the TR, it will be subject to moisture... hence am protected by Krown. I do hear good things about POR 15 and have no reason to knock that option.

Just finished the sound & heat shield work in the interior... what a nice difference.
