Triumph TR6 - Hood Release

I recently replaced the rubber hood cones and now I'm unable to open the hood (not a good thing). I pulled on the hood relase cable to no avail. Any remedy you can provide will be appreciated. Many Thanks...Jose' (76TR6)

Have a helper push down on the middle of the bonnet over the latch while you pull the release. Keep the release pulled and have the helper let go of the bonnet. I should pop up. If not, well, we don't want to talk about that just yet.
Rick Orthen

Rick,

Thanks for your remedy, I'll give it a try. I hate to think what plan "B" would be.

After you have done what the younger Rick says to try and it works, screw down the cones.

Maybe just a rap on the hood with the heel of your hand (while pulling on the knob) would shake it up.

When you get it open, put in a secondary opener of some kind. I tied a long cable tie to the lever and ran it thru a hole in the firewall by the glovebox. If the cable breaks, you'll be glad you did.

Big hammer square in the middle of the hood ought to do it.
DON KELLY

I was able to get the hood to open. I'm going to back off the the rubber cones and rigg up a secondary cable as recommended. Thanks to all who responded. Jose' 76TR6

Don't know why big hammer comments were needed, but glad you got your hood open, Jose.

Jose, et.al.

Dan Masters has fashioned a servo acutated secondary bonnet release that's really cool. He also cut an access panel under the cubby box in which he fitted the 3" plug from the floor and can access the release mechanism directly by putting his hand through this port. I MAY have the electrons on this technique somewhere if anyone is interested. Rick Crawford, did we not put this on CD I?

Doug Baker

Doug,

I'm interested in Dan Master's secondary bonnet release mod, Pls advise when you find it. Also, How can I obtain a copy of this CDI and CDII keep reading about?

Thanks...Jose'
Jose'

Jose,
Send me your snail mail address. I know that I have Dan's procedure in hard copy that I can mail to you. I have CD1 and can make a copy for you. CD II is a little more difficult. Rick Crawford can address the best access to that. email me @ dbaker04 AT AOL DOT com. Replace the AT and DOT with @ & . and close up the spaces.

Try this again...

The only thing on CD I or II is the made up plate and rod that is used a secondary hood release. Do not really see need for electric-mechanical hood release. Did not know Dan had such an animal till now. Will admit my MOSS pull cable secondary hood release I use mostly only because it is on same side of car as I have to be to open the bonnet.

Douglas Baker, shame on you. Did you not get CDII from Alistair?
Some how need to make CDII available as there are quite a few new names on this BBS. Maybe good ol' snail mail chain letter (sorta speak).

Don,
good idea. Faster access than CD. I also seem to be adding to my CD of information every once in a while.
Will be taking a number of DVD copies of CDII to Bronte with me in September. Already have a few requests for a copy.

CD2 is still online, if anyone wants to download. E-mail me or Rick for the link and password.

Alistair,
Without shouting TOO loud...What a guy!!
Good for you lad. This is good to hear.
I presume the one little addition that we got our hands slapped for is not there???
I think it might be an idea to leave this information hidden in this thread.
Thank you Alistair.

Contact Alistair or myself of-line to get info on how to get CDII. In either of our e-mail addresses, remove the capital letters DOT and AT.
Anyone else interested in getting you own downloaded copy of CDII do the same.
Jose', sorry your thread is taking a turn here. Hope you do not mind it gets used to promote the CD of TR6 information. The original CDII download was removed off the download site because of copy right issues. That copy write material is no longer available as part of the download.
Can not even say go back earlier this year and read the thread about CDII as the thread has been removed.....gone forever....kinda like some of the info on the CD:)
Like I said Alistair, thanks

Hi, Guys,

I just uploaded the instruction files to my AOL webspace at: http://members.aol.com/danmas/
Dan Masters

Dan, you are a master indeed! That servo release looks rather trick.
