Triumph TR6 - hub puller aka churchill tool

BUT. I am sure you are aware that this is deffinitely not a recommended procedure even by the best of us on this BBS. There are places you can send the hub to for rebuilding and not that expensive. You might want to look into this first before you attempt this procedure......IMHO.

absoluckinfutely....a press is more likely to do it than a 'puller' - not for the faint-hearted or inexperienced.!!!

yup, for sure a press! ...here's what worked for me with a west coast car having 108K on the clock: pre-soaked the tapered end with a good penitrant. Used a 20ton+ press, supported the flange very well, shocked it with a blow after 6-8 tonnes... it should POP apart by 12 at the most....remember, support the flange! Follow the Bentley manual for reassembly...

First, become a member. It doesn't cost and there is a wealth of info available.

I also have some home made tools to reassemble the hub if you want them. I'll never do an axle rebuild again.

Joe in NC beat me to the draw on the above link I was going to send you. Good work Joe. Note the author's advice on building a thick flange on the puller to prevent hub flange distortion. A good local shop advises they built and broke a puller similar to this and ruined a couple of practice hubs on previous attempts. I was going to build a puller but am definitely going to send these valuable parts to a pro for rebuild. I think it's worth the cost.

found a cad diagram of a puller linked below.

I am going to turn one of these as I am not rebuilding a stock hub, but modifying the outer to run the Datsun flanges and axles.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

kj - Please follow up with a blow-by-blow post of the details of this adventure. I have not done this myself as have been warned off it by those with more experience (and equipment) than me.

It would be an interesting contribution to the board for future reference.
