Triumph TR6 - Ignition timing

Any suggestions re [TR-6]ignition timing would be GREATLY apprecioted, ie static vrs. strobe light, how much advance etc. Car is a '73, Crane ignition, Platinum plugs @ .030 gap etc.

Timing on our cars varies a lot from 6 to 6. No one can give you a definitive answer. It is mostly a set it and try it thing. If no pink then that is good. Remember that carbs have to be in sync also. Like Jim says, join up there REALLY is a lot of info on this subject in the ARCHIVES. Here is link to join:

I run 9 deg BTDC dynamic with a strobe, vac advance disconnected (yes, it IS advance - a mod).

I set mine at about 16 BTDC with the vac retard hose disc and plugged ..when I hook it back up it moves to 4 ATDC..I use a strobe and she idles at 750

Dave The best advice I can give you is to time at static 18deg. and advance until she pinks (knocks) then back off a little
