Triumph TR6 - Interior Kits

Hello Everyone,

I'm preparing to re-do the interior on my '72, and
I'm just wondering if the collective Voice of Experience
can give me any recommendations about the best source, if any- Moss, VB, RF, etc., and whether there may be anything I should watch out for.

Thanks very much!

-Bill.

Did my entire interiour and it all came from MOSS. Have no complaints at all. Everything fit as it should. I am shadow blue. If I was to do it again, I would consider going with TRF and their "package" deal if my interiour was black. It is still a good price for what you get.

PS do one seat at a time so you can look at the original for cutting and clip reinstall.

and, lest we forget our Major Sponsor...

http://www.lbcarco.com is a Moss Motors dealer who clobbers their retail prices.

Give 'em a try Bill.

Jim lives! Bill, I have tried to find out a little more info about seat recovering by calling some of the suppliers such as the Little British Car company. They do not supply all the clips you need. The funky little hidden clips that keep the seat backs and door panels on do not seem to be available from any of the major suppliers. I found a UK company that says they have them, and I'll let everyone know in a week or so if they come through. I found their website a month or two ago, but they were out of the clips. Last week, they emailed that they had the clips in and that a package of 27 was 4.94 pounds, or a little over $9; I sent them the payment by paypal and am waiting to see if they send us anything.

I got some clips from TRF last year. As I recall, they were not in the catalogue but they were in the price list. They were just slightly larger than the originals, and required a bit of extra force to insert, but they did the job.

You may have to call them to check. I'd be surprised of Moss or LBCar might not have them as well.

I don't know about the rest of youse guys (in the non gender specific sense of the word), but whenever I order some pieces where they are obviously losing money just by processing my order, I like to order up some extra bits to make the process worthwhile. There always seems to be something that I don't really need, but would be nice to have.

I have mentioned this before, Martin Macgregor might be able to help with some of those items. I have ordered from him before, excellent service, high quality. He used to supply trim items to BL in the UK, saw the light when everything started closing in (on British Leyland) and moved to North America to be closer to where most of the cars went. Interesting guy! (and I'm just a satisfied customer)

I had some very good luck with a VBP interior about 4 years ago. But I would check with our Major Sponsor. Who knows they many get them from the same place.
Coop

This is the company that has the clips and fasteners.

I will let you guys know if they really come through.

The TRF sub. The Magic Carpet co. sounds like it is good stuff. Ask for samples

I just completely reupholstered my 76 using an interior kit I ordered from Prestige Auto Trim in the UK. It came out great. I ordered leather seat covers, along with matching vinyl for the door covers. It comes with additional vinyl materials for the rear wheel humps and the carpet is trimmed in the same material. The carpet is available in different plies. The whole package was fantastic. Great color match along the different types of material. The leather seats ar awesome and the leather kit comes with a leather boot for the emergency brake (very nice). They have a great selection of colors as well. Talk to Danny Wilson at Prestigeautotrim.com. You can use my name as a reference if you want.

P.S. They do not carry the seat foam kits so I ordered mine from Triumphs Only, but they are available from Moss and TRF. Also, you will want to pick up some 1/2 inch foam sheets to cover the rear wheel humps before you glue on the vinyl covers. Also, be sure to download the seat rebuild instructions from the Buckeye Triumpoh website as it is an invaluable resource.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone.
With regard to seats, I'm seriously considering replacing mine with Miata seats rather than recovering them. I started a thread regarding TR seat replacement options some time ago, and from responses there, and by browsing the archives, I gather that a lot of TR owners have swapped their original seats for Miatas.

One question I still have that maybe someone can answer, is whether or not there is a particular year Miata seat that works well in a TR6, or if any will do the trick.

Thanks,

-Bill.
