Triumph TR6 - LED Lamping
I've been following the beginnings of an LED topic on another list and it looks promising. As we're all aware, the instrument illumination in our TR's, while being 'retro charming,' is less than optimal. I believe LEDs will address this problem nicely without the meltdown risks of halogen. What's the diameter of the screw base bulbs (3, 5, or 9 mm)? ALso, is the center of the bulb base the power supply side (i.e., positive polarity?) There are possible TR applications here that may require a buld order to get: http://www.led.net/datasheets/minbase_index/minbas_index.htm Rick O. |

The center post should be positive. |

Got my single 'test case' LED lamp screwed in the socket below the driver's lower crash pad. I must say that while it is not as bright as the old incandescent lamp, it does work well. It should offer a good improvement in the gauges. The only drawback is cost ($12.95 each), but without any of the heat put out by halogen. I'll put it in a gauge and let everyone know how that is. Rick, What part number did you order, I just had a look at the website you mentioned. Quite an array of LEDS available. Which one did you work out would fit the gauges ? Cheers Bob |

Bob--Look at the T1-3/4 (9mm) screw base lamps for 12/24V bipolar application. The part no. is SF321-OCW-014B. I really wanted the green one because it had over twice the intensity, but they are not being manufactured (yet). Very good support from the supplier. Rick O. |
