Great News Jim

Welcome to the club. As evidenced in your first 2 posts, you will get a lot of good advice and help from this forum.

I got 'em! They both got here safe & sound last night.. Both in better shape than I was expecting. Ist step will be a mettalic purple paint job and a whales tale on the TR6...kidding...The plan was to sell the GT6 & use the $$ to help finance the restore of the TR...My question now is how do I figure out what the GT is worth? Any suggestions? In general, if I too a GT & a TR in equal condition, which would be more valuable? I'm really in the dark here so any help/suggestions or advice is greatly appreciated.

Jim

Congratulations. Glad to hear they look better than you thought.

There is an old saying. When the top goes down...the price goes up.
Other considerations: The TR6 is much easier to get in and out of, I wouild say parts are more readily available for the TR6 (new and used), I think the TR6 is worth more and would hold its' resale value, and I like the lines of both cars but prefer the TR6.
As far as what you will get for the GT6? First big question. Can you start the engine and drive it? If not I think you will be around 2 to 3 thousand. You might be further ahead to part it out.

Post some pics Jim.

Now the fun begins!!

Rick, the GT needs points, once I get that addressed it will run & drive. Engine only has 14500 miles on it...Yeah, I like the lines on the TR also..Started right up....I think the 1st thing I'm gonna do is a t5 transmission....
I'll email you some photos, they're too big to post here...

WOW sounds like both are good shape. Next is brakes. I recall now you said the GT6 was low mileage. Remember to check the thrust washers. There is a procedure on the CD for that. I look forward to the pics. I can make them smaller and post them back here for you.

Ha, opened up this BBS before e-mail. I shrunk the 2 pics and attach for everyone to see. The GT6 body looks in very good shape. How is the interior?
Rick

Can not upload the 2 pics.
Rick Crawford

I can't get inside to check the interior cause it's full of spare parts. Guy I got it from said it was trashed but it comes with new carpet kit that hasn't been installed.I'll know more tomorrow when I get it off the truck and i can empty the car...

Here is the picture of the GT6

Thanks Rick!

Was not me Jim. Mike Plumstead(owner this BBS) did it for me. Could not upload but just figured out what I was doing wrong. Here is the other.
Body really does look good. Send me pics of the TR6 and will post them if you like. They have to be smaller that 1MB.

Rick Crawford

Looks nice Jim.

I agree with Rick- the TR6 will be more fun to drive, will be able to resell later much easier.

I have a 69 TR6 and a 68 Spitfire. The body style of the Spitfire is similar to the GT6. I have been thinking of sticking a GT6 engine in the Spitfire. Not ready to do it though but if you decide to part the car, I may have an interest.

Good luck.
