Triumph TR6 - Miata Seat Options... pls help.

Hi folks...

I understand there is a conversion to Miata seats from stock seats to gain comfort and more importantly for me, legroom. Anyone have a link to a tech article on this one? Thx Ken.

Thank you JGC. That was quick! Do you know if the conversion gives an inch or two more legroom in a TR6?

I got my seats from 'Planet Miata" A fine pair of tan leather for $200. Shipping was around $60 but worth every penny. I probably spent four hours doing the installation but that included the time to make the brackets. No more room, but nice seats.

I made this conversion last year and am very pleased with the added legroom as I am 6'4" Original seats in very poor condition had my knees in the dash!

I have pictures of the plywood templates I used to fabricate the 1/8 inch steel adaptors that I will be happy to send. Just send you e-mail address.

I used a 24" framing square to align with door threshold. And, the seats were installed opposite from the original Miata L/R orientation so the seat back lever would be on the door side.

You will really enjoy your new seats!

Many thanks to you Bob for sharing your experience with the conversion. I have downloaded the pictures and note for future reference. I do not have a car at this point... have been holding back until I am convinced I can fit into, drive and enjoy it before buying. Thx to you I'm becoming more confident re a future fit. Ken

Hi Rick...

I'm in touch with an old buddy who specializes in interior restorations (Caledon Trim Shop) and hope to get a nod from him as to really making all this advice work. As soon as he is comfortable I'll be ready to go shopping. I saw several cars for sale at BCD but not many that were as good as yours. One car that was pretty nice had an asking price of $29K which is out of my league. Another nice car, in a 2006 Chrysler Blue color, sold the next day for $19,500. The owner had done a beautiful body off resto. I do not want to start from scratch so that's the kind of car I'm after. Ken
