Triumph TR6 - Mimosa Yellow?

I am looking for Mimosa Yellow touch-up paint, does it exist in pre-mixed aerosol or liquid (can)?

Thanks
Bill Kinney

As far as I know, it is not available over here in normal "touch up" containers or spray cans. Last time I needed some Mimosa for my wife's Spitfire, I wound up buying a pint. They make these little disposible spray units that can then be used with your paint. However, you must bear in mind that these paints will need to be thinned to be sprayed and also typically take a hardener. Since I was doing some other paint work and staying with in the same line of paints, I already had the other two components. So you are probably looking at buying three components, plus the little sprayer. Go to:

http://napaonline.com

and search for NAPA part number BK 7705030. The web site states that these are only available at NAPA, but that is not really the case. If I am remembering correctly, these are made by a Perval and I have seen them at automotive paint stores and other parts stores. This was primarily intended to show you how they looked.

I guess that it's all part of the price we pay for driving these old crocks.

Hi Bill

Adding to Steves points.

It all depends on what you need to do. Autobody supply stores will mix up a can of spray to your color. The price varies with color. Not the best if your trying to fix anything on a large area.

If you have small dents call your local auto dealedr for the number of the local ding-king guy. No painting required.

If your just dealing with a small chip or scratch. Get a pint of each and some tiny brushes from the hobby store. Remember once its mixed it is only good for a about 30 minutes. A pint of paint plus pint catalyst and probably a quart of reducer since its quite cheap will last you a lifetime just mix very small amts. as needed.

If the car was repainted it may be base and clear? Something else to consider using spray.

This outfit is about the only ones that have Trimph listed and seem honest may be worth a look.

Thanks Guys, I appreciate your info. I had my 70 6 repainted to Mimosa from Primrose, and it turned out beautifully. I had my 68B painted the original Tartan Red without pulling the engine because it had just been rebuilt before being painted and the Roadster Shop in New Castle,IN did an awesome job. I had them do the same on my 6, but the areas around the brake master cylinder are not perfect and I wanted to redo them myself. Its not a large area, but needs some attention. Once again thanks!

Like Bill says, get the spary can mixed. Simply go to Carquest, they will mix for you with the code you give them. Probably the other bigs guys will do the same.

Bill; I have gotten a couple of different touch ups from Paintscratch.com. As long as you have the numbers to give them, they will hit it dead on, at least they did with a 77 MG BRG and a 72 Pimento Tr6.
