Triumph TR6 - Mirror

Anyone have any knowledge of a source for rebuilding the chrome bullet mirrors? Mine is in good to excellent condition externally, and the mirror is find, but the it needs a new gasket/o-ring/whatever around the mirror and the mounting plate and I've not discovered any outfit that has parts or will rebuild or re-new the item. Thanks.

Did you try Tex?
Don Kelly

Uh...TEX?? Don, need more. Nope, obviously not. Who's Tex?

Kind of a pain to deal with but have some of the best OE mirrors around.
You might need to email them or call em

Don, Checked the website and sent 'em a note. We'll see what they offer. Thanks for the reference.

Might take a couple of tries on the note.
Some have had good luck...me, not so much

TEX was an OE supplier to BL and the predecessor/legacy companies that formed BL. I recall seeing more of their stuff on the BMC/BMC legacy cars as factory fitment, more in the accessory type parts on the non-BMC cars that made up BL.

I especially remember their hideously expensive windscreen wiper blades (3 of them and no good aftermarket ones at the time in the US) fitted to the 70 to 72 MGBs that curiously enough could not make it through a TEXas summer without turning to dust. In 73 the wiper arms and blades were changed and ANCO had a standard replacement at about 1/4 the price of the TEX blades.

Steve,
You're a veritable fountain of BL history. You should write some of this stuff down sometime to make sure it survives!!

OK, contacted TEX. My mirror is not a TEX...some other after market dealer add on, I guess. Whatever, I still need to replace the retainer ring around the mirror glass. Can't figure out how to remove the glass w/o breaking it. It's held in place by what appears to be a nylon retainer around the circumference of the mirror. See photos of front and disassembled rear of mirror face. Anyone have any ideas on who/where I can go to get this repaired or parts and instructions for me to do it? Thanks.

If the mirror is not a TEX, then it is probably one of the AMCO units that were also sold through BL Dealers in this market under the "HAC series" of accessory part numbers. Unfortunately, AMCO is long out of business and the closest thing I can think of is the AMCO repros sold through TRF. I think they sell the mirror body to bodywork gasket as a spare, but no other parts as far as I know.

Thanks Steve. I'll talk to Dave at TRF. Looks like my photos did not upload.
