Les, There was a previous thread on this, I didn't chip in at that point, but the album I would listen to would be 'Machine Head' by Deep Purple. In 1972, I drove from Colorado Springs to Payette, ID (1000 miles) in 12 hours in my 67 Mustang back before that 55 speed limit! Cassette player ran it over & over! Check out Highway Star, but wait til you reach break in mileage. ;) Rod |

There's always Johnny Winter's cover of Bob Dylan's "Highway 61 Revisited," almost anything from Brian Auger's Oblivion Express, yes there is a lot of good driving dinosaur band stuff. The Austin Lounge Lizards have some stuff that would work too, and there is always Southern Culture on the Skids. What can you say about a band that has many a song that just reeks of fried chicken and gasoline along with that ever popular "Plastic Seat Sweat." Born to Be Wild, a.k.a. The Sturgis National Anthem |
