Triumph TR6 - No reverse

After 9 1/2 years of being off the road I took my 74 out for the first time today. The engine ran strong and the brakes barley worked plus the tires were like "squares" but the troubling thing is I can't find reverse at all. Wondering if it's something I'm doing wrong? I also got the strombergs working well and now I've got SU's on the way (man I could of used that money for new tires!) oh well I'm sure the ease of the SU's will make it worth the expense. Any advise on the reverse would be appriciated...I'm assuming it's to the right and down?

Push down to the left and up? I have no idea anymore!
DON KELLY

My Midget was to the left and down...I think? So far my TR6 is me pushing it backwards out of the garage.

Bang to the right (3pm) and pull back towards e brake.

That's it, Thanks Shawn.
I think it must just be instinctual. I do it on the Wedge alright.
DON KELLY

Lift up lever;push far right; then DOWN.
P. Noel

P. Noel...you Sir are a gentlemen and a scholar! It works!!!!! Pulling up was the key, my MG you pushed down and to the left back the TR6 pull up and to the right back...my night has been made (small victories my friends)

Push up ..pull down...what?????????????

This is a British car. Not a VW.

Thanks Shawn

Rick don't know what to tell you...my MG you had to "push" down the stick and the TR you have to "pull" up on it...now you wouldn't want the Mrs to be able to easily mistake reverse for another gear...there has to be a bit of a "trick" to it...if yours doesn't require any "pushing" or "pulling" maybe yours is the one in error? (just kidding) sometimes I like my Jaguars british version of 'D' and 'R' easy peesy.
