Triumph TR6 - Ontario International Plowing Match
I was looking for a weekend TR6 trip and thought about the Plowing Match in Ontario held late September annually. This year it is being held about 90 minutes east of Ottawa at the Quebec/Ontario Border and there is a draw for a 70 TR6 Have to go for sure now and promote interest in the draw http://www.ipm2011.net/English%20Side/English%20Start.html Any interest from our eastern counterparts? |

+Mike Could not connect to the link. FINALLY someone realized a TR6 would be a good car to have for a draw. Rick |

Well Michael, You are not helping TR6s with that: I frequently listen that my TR6 has a tractor engine from a standard tractor, why unpleased me a lot. And the only info I found about TR6 on that site is in the parade, with a green(not J. Deere) TR6 with a lot of old tractors. Rick you sould copy-paste the link in your browser. Cheers, Jean G. |

Rick Did you try cutting and pasting as Jean suggested. Jean I haven't come across the photo of a TR6 with the tractors yet but you should see a box that indicates a green TR6 and if you click on it, it gives the photo attached. another link that should get you there is http://www.plowingmatch.org/ follow the 2011 Prsscott-Russel link on the left side. ![]() |

At least it looks to be held outdoors unlike some of the "tractor pull" events. Due to the nature of some of her work, my resident Spitfire and Miata owner subscribes to a publication called "Morbity and Mortality Weekly Reports." I can't give an accurate description of what all is involved in one of these tractor pull competitions having never been to one. But if for some reason I ever choose to go to one, thanks to an article in M&MWR concerning carbon monoxide levels at indoor tractor pull events I know where to sit. The primary take away from the article was "if you're going to go, you want to sit low." |

Hi Folks: That '70 TR6 belonged to Bruce S. a friend of mine who moved from St. John's to Ottawa 2 years ago. He told me after he shipped it to his new home in Ottawa he sold it to a farming-related group who planned to put it up on tickets. It is a beauty and I had the pleasure of driving it back in 2004 after I got mine and I gave him a good lever shock after I converted mine to tube shocks. It's a real head turner with the BRG paint and tan interior and tan Robbins top. Looks great and drives as good as it looks. The car had an interesting history. Bruce bought the car fully restored in Calgary in the mid to late '90's. He had always been crazy about TR6's and wanted one ever since his friend's older brother bought one back in the day. After he got the TR6 home from Calgary he and his friend were going over the car and found the original registration included with the paperwork. The car was his friend's brother's car that he had bought new from the British Leyland dealer in St. John's! It had made its way to Calgary, been restored and wound up back in St. John's where it started! pretty cool for Bruce. Anyway, he told me that after owning the car for 9 - 10 years and owning a BMW 3-series sedan he was interested in upgrading to something newer, faster and more reliable. He bought an M series and I'm pretty sure it's a Z3 M and not a Z4. He's happy with it but I'd sure like to have that TR6 on a $5.00 ticket. Found the pic on the Prescott-Russell site with two geezers (like us) driving it. Cheers, Bob 1976 TR6 ![]() |

I think the 6 motor being a tractor motor is a fallacy. That was the 4 cylinder one |
DON KELLY |
Don, Your right, I was just teasing Michael. In fact I found it was, if I remember correctly, a Ferguson TE20. Gosh, Bob, you are amazing with your knoledge of TR6. Cheers, Jean G. ![]() |

Thanks guys, that worked. Good story on the car Bob. You should send that story to the promoters of the event. Sure hope that original registration goes with the car. Mike, it looks like you will not be at Bronte this year. Rick |

Great story Bob. Small world Steve - this plowing match involves plowing contests using tractors and draft horses not just tractor pulls. The straightest, deepest and fastest furrows win. As well there is a midway and various craft and cooking contests and entertainment. Just a good country show. A tractor pull should be outside and they can be interesting. I've attended a few. The power of the tractors is amazing. Jean/Don- First I've heard about the tractor engine myth although other than being slow- tractor engines are powerful and durable- so maybe not an insult? Rick- I think the Bronte show is the weekend (Sept 18) before so both can be done. Plowing match is Sept 20-24. |
