Triumph TR6 - PDWA Electrical
Hi all Sorry if I am hogging the BBS into 2009, but restoration still goes on.I am just about finished on the wiring loom and all appears to be ok (mmmmmmm). The question that I have today is about the electrical connection on the PDWA I have a Black/Purple (Ground lead), The other pin is a broken wire which I cannot identify (I have Dan masters Book)...So please if you can assist me. Thanks Les |

Hi Les Not exactly sure what you are looking at? I looked at schematics for 73 and 74 and the black purple looks like it connects to PDWA which is grounded to the car. When switch actuates- circuit closes. The black purple also connects to the brake warning lamp and it comes from the low oil pressure lamp. The flow is- Low pressure lamp to a double connector which 2 black purple eminate from- one to PDWA and other to brake warning lamp. This connector is probably in behind the dash. Any help? Regards Mike |

Further comment There appears to be no other wires associated at the PDWA. Mike |

In looking at 76 schematic I note that there is quite a difference A white leads from the oil warning light and volt meter to the brake warning light. A purple black comes from the brake warning light to a 3 way connector. A purple black to the PDWA, a purple black to the hand brake switch and a purple/slate to the C4 terminal on the "bulb test relay". I don't know the physical placement of the bulb test relay but this would be the other wire you have. Mike |

Sorry, I gotta ask a dumb question... what's the PDWA Les? Also, if you'd like a closeup picture of my recently installed new relays (bulb test & horn) plus new fuse box just say the word. Ken |

Les- Just 1 wire to in. The unit itself is the ground. When the piece operates it breaks the ground or vice versa. |

Ken, I would like to see a picture of your relays and fuse box set up. It is one part of my car I have been trying to clean up and sort out. PDWA: Pressure Differential Warning Actuator Syl |

Thanks to all. Two connectors one wire - lucas wiring- say no more. Ken you have the answer to the PDWA, and I aslo would like to see the photos of the relays etc. Les |

76 TR6 CF Okay, here are some shots of the relays with bulb test on top and horn relay on bottom. I am having some probs with the twinned black wires 'as is' so there may be an error within their circuits. I've been working things through with Dan's book and my multimeter but have thrown in the towel until spring. No garage heat as yet ;(. Ken ![]() |

I'll upload a few for clarity. The images were taken at low res (1.2MG) so as to fit this forum's parameters. They may not be crystal clear. Ken

That reminds me. I think we are having spaghetti for dinner |

This just to show the new flasher & mount for the hazzard lights... blurred, sorry. The car came with a bluish round flasher.

Excellent Don... I love pasta but admit it has caused a belly-like formation above my belt. This last pic may be a repeat. I'm at that age. KTS ![]() |

I thought the flasher was in the passenger footwell. Or is this a different flasher or later cars different? |
DON KELLY |
Don My turn signal flasher is in that footwell but the hazzard flasher is near the left front wheel arch. At least that's where it was on my 76. Ken |

A-HA!! Thanks Ken |
