Triumph TR6 - Plastic 'CHROME' trim

Hi,
Any tips for installing a new Plastic "CHROME" trim on the windshield ? I've thought of soap or silicone grease but it looks like I need something to push the rubber apart as the trim is pushed in..I figure I'll get 80% done and I'll break the darn thing !!

My thoughts on that is don't touch the windshield , have a glass company do all the installing.

Easy, easy, don't get freaked out.Got this spray lube from Carquest and starting at the join, just worked it around, having sprayed the rubber groove all the way around first.I too, was daunted by this but it took less than 5 minutes and made a huge difference in the appearance. Peter G

Then put a bit of silicone glue on one side of the metal tab that covers the joint so it won't come flying off in two years when the plastic trim shrinks.

I used some silicone spray and a small rubber hammer to gently hammer the sprip in. Words perfect. Good luck

Thanks Guys,
I went one step further and wrapped the end of my rubber mallet with a cloth....sprayed rubber with silicone and started at the joining area the trim went in real nice...looks great !! the old one was so brittle it snapped every foot or so.
Thanks to all..

I just pressed mine in - no goose grease or anything. You've got to be a little careful about spraying silicone about. Don't want to be too alarmist, but the grease solvent may not be compatible with the rubber or the strip. But it's likely nothing that would show up soon - just might have to replace it after 3 years instead of 4.
