Triumph TR6 - Powdwer Coat
May be obvious to all but I am a big fan of powder coating. Took my windshield apart to paint car and had the frame semi gloss black powder coated instead of painted. Cost $80 and looks great. Very hard surface. Dick Porter |

I agree but I don't know of anyone who does it. I wonder if you could hook up thing to be painted with neg. side of jumper cable , and pos. side of jumper cable to paint can ...... Sorry it's almost Christmas and I can smell oily car parts in the presents under the tree so I'm a little giddy. |

The equipment needed for powdercoating is available from Eastwood in Pennsylvania. There are 3 steps:- 1) sandblast or clean the part very well, 2) Attach a ground which gives a neutral charge to the part and apply the powder with their "HotCoatPro" spray gun, (They have it in about 50 colours), 3) place the part in an electric heating oven (such as your kitchen stove). For a frame, I hope you have a big oven. Or you can use high intensity heating lamps, they also offer these lamps - (anyone into tanning ?). The deluxe Kit sells for $199.99 (Summer 2000 Catalog) Check them out at:- www.eastwoodcompany.com Don Elliott, 1958 TR3A |

I knew about Eastwood but am not sure I would do enough to justify the expense. I know someone who has the Eastwood kit and is about to powdercoat every part on his car. It is a common industrial process and listed as power coating in the Yellow Pages. I happen to live close to the Indy 500 and all the race suppliers. Porter |

When you're searching for a meticulous and honest TR mechanic, make sure he/she has a used commercial pizza oven in the shop. These electric ovens are great for PC and would easily swallow your windscreen frame. Rick O. 72 TR6 |

In my area you can't throw a rock without hitting a Powder coating shop. I have personally p.c. about everything possible on my 71 6. Front and rear complete susp., windshield and all of the metal under the bonnet that can be seperated and even some parts on the engine itself even some misc body parts. I love it. Don |

To All I am amazed (sometimes) how far us TR lovers will go to preserve such a fine sports car. Sounds great what you chaps have done. "all to preserve and drive the Triumph" these are not my words but very true. Regards to all Rick |
