Triumph TR6 - Rad Shops

Happy Easter Folks...... Fired up my money pit last night and noticed a leak in the rad. Does anyone know of a radiator shop in the west end that could do a recore or even enlarge the core?.... Chronic overheating this last year has led me to consider a larger rad or maybe even an aluminum one.Your help and suggestions as always are appreciated.

Hi Alan I just had my rad recored at Barton Radiator Works on Cannon street in Hamilton They have been around forever and do great work He added another pass when he recored mine and it was definitly a lot heavier when I picked it up. He assured me that I would have no problems with cooling. He does a lot of custom stuff and knew mine was from a TR6 as soon as I walked in the door. He only primes the rads that are for custom work so if you want it black make sure to tell him. I painted mine with a few coats of High Temp Black engine paint and it turned out nice. I think he charged $225 plus tax and the turnaround was one week. Regards John

Alan,

It might be worth the drive to Hamilton. I had my rad done by Country Rad on 4th line in Milton Ontario for $325 plus tax 2 ywars ago. They did paint it black though. I think metal prices may have gone up since. There are probably more economical shops around but I didn't shop around too much at the time.

I think most rad shops can do it. I had mine done about 5 years ago after throwing a fan blade trough it. only cost me $100 then.

Thanks for your input, it's off to Mississauga Rad @ Burnhamthorpe and Mavis......I'll have it back next week.

Hi Gents..... Well like I said I took my rad to Mississauga Rad, they quad cored it for $350 plus taxes..... Ask for Harry or Gabe, I'll let you know if I have any more problems.

Isn't a new rad less?

Isn't the original one only three cored and not four like Alan had Mississauga Rad do for him? Maybe the fourth core is worth the extra $100 he paid. Better cooling for sure. Just a thought.
