Triumph TR6 - Restoring meters TR6

I am restoring the facia and its components of my TR6 and decided to include all meters in this operation.
I now find that the dial of the fuel meter is beyond rescue.
The speedometer housing contains green plastic cups to colour the dial lights green, the cups are cracked with pieces missing.
Does anyone know a company able to deliver the little green cups and/or white text transfers to restore the dial marks after re-spraying the fuel dial.
kind regards,

If you're half only have as bad as me you're going to need a magnifying glass and a sedative to keep the brush steady enough to repaint the things by hand - I don't think white text transfers are available.

Keep an eye out on eBay - they do come up from time to time - even NOS ones. I got hold of a second set and made up one good set out of two. There's a used set for sale at the moment( http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2401509430&category=33695 )

Good luck

How do you remove the bezel and glass from the gauges? I've swapped many gauges, but never tried to disassemble or repair the internals of one. Regards, W

It does require some forse but I could twist the bezels off quit easily. The sealing was totally disintegrated; I scrapped the residue-sealing compound away.
I will replace the original cork and compound sealing with round rubber tube material; modern meters are also sealed this way.

We have a company here that does the restoration of the faces for us. They're reasonable, and slow. I've never asked them about the light 'jewels'.

Try this #.203 655 8731 They are meter rebuilders and seem willing to supply parts. Were most helpful.Company seems to operate under more than one name but I think it's 'Sports and Classics'. Anyway, the # is right. PG

If I recall when did my gauge clean, there are little "tabs" that have to be bent out so the glass will seperate from gauge. Look at gauge from the back and you will see them at the glaas ring area. I do not think you will be able to get replacement cups..unless from an old gauge and they may be in same state. There is a past thread (this year) where (sorry, do not recall poster). When reading the post with link to WEB page, it talked about replacement bulbs with coloured glass bulbs. They are basically LEDs in a base that fits most automotive applications. Very expensive compared to an ordinary bulb though. You could go fancy and go all red. If you go route of these units, I would remove the coloured plastic cup. Heck, you might even be able to read the gauge at night!!
