Triumph TR6 - Seat frame/parts

So far in searching all the sources, I find no availability for the TR6 basic seat frame (1991). OK, I'll make do with refurbishing mine, BUT, it'd sure to good to be able to replace the webbing across the back. Does anyone know of a source for this? I THINK that Rimmer Bros has the little clips that hold the seat fabric onto the frame, but if anyone is aware of a source on this side of the pond for this item, please advise. thanks.

Hi Doug
I'm not quite sure what your talking about as I havent got into my seats yet but there a set of seat straps and clips on E-bay right now that you might want to check outThe auction number is 4550302468 and it ends in about 11 hours from now May 20 920 PM Regards John

I recently ordered EVERYTHING to redo my seat frames from TRF - they had the clips, bottom rubber, seat straps (available as a kit, or as individual items), foam kits, and seat covers. It took a while for the backordered stuff to arrive (still waiting on a new dash, windsheild trim and fuzzy seals). It is making for an extended Christmas, as every couple of days or weeks, a new part arrives in the mail.

They probably also have new seat frames - I'd give their on-line catalog a look.

When I did my seats the back straps had stretched with age. If I recall they are rivited to the hooks at each end. I simply cut the hook off , shortened the strap a bit a put in new rivets. Much tighter. The seat bottom diaphram is simply...replace it.

I did the same as Rick C. The biggest problem I had was replacing the foam in the headrests. Any one know how to do that without tearing the leather from the threads used to sew the cover together?

Bob S.,
When I disassembled my driver's seat (the worst of the two), the head rest foam still had a plastic cover. I read in one of the seat recovering stories that leaving the plastic on the foam helps to slide the cover on. Makes sense. Reduces the friction, probably a couple of orders of magintude. Also the cover will probably go on more easily if you turn it inside out and fold it down over the foam. If it's too tight to do that completely, fold it half way; with the aid of the plastic slide the top on and then fold down the rest. Good luck. I'd be interested in how it works out. For either of you, did you get the piece of burlap that goes on the seat side of the rubber diaphram in your set of new seat stuff?

Doug:

I purchsed from TRF. The kit did not include the burlap. I was able to use the old that was still in decent shape.
