Triumph TR6 - Seat Recovering

Does anyone out there have a pointer to good articles/guides on how to recover seats including foam installation?

thanks

There is a 5 page article with photo's in the Roger Williams book "How to restore Triumph TR%/250 & TR6". Hope to do my seats next year so I can't vouch for how helpful the article is, but it sure looks very good.
Mati Holland

Thanks Mati

I have looked over that section of the book and it is not as clear as I would hope, maybe there are other articles out there from amateur perspectives :-)

Sounds like Don has the help you need. Ha Don, if you have a link to something interesting, would you be so kind as to post.

Bob, do one seat at a time. You will need the "original" as a template to see where to cut and tuck. Definitely replace the diaphram(s). I also shortened the "back" webs to get back the original back support...they stretch over time. I used 3M general trim spray adhesive (Car Quest)...works real good if you follow directions and let it "tack up" before you bond the material to it. BE CAREFULL though...once you make contact it is there for good.
Also Vicki Brit has a small free "Guide" on redoing interiour and seats..Part #A-T6IK.
Have fun...a nice little winter project.

Don, I would love to see them too. My seats need to be redone. They were redone kind of half assed by a DPO and are a bit of a mess. The sad thing is that the vinyl isn't bad, but the inside is disgusting. The webbing is a mess, the foam is a mess, etc.

Someday..............

Gang,

I've just changed ISPs, so I'll have a little web site on-line over the weekend. I'll post the seat and interior docs then. I'll let you know when they're out there.

Hi Don from Jersey, I'm getting ready to re-do a set of '69 seats and have been looking forward to reading the articles you mentioned. When you have a chance please post them or could you e-mail them to me direct ? Thanks. David , in Seattle where it's cool and rainy , and working on seats actually sounds good !
David Johnston

David,

You've got mail! I still haven't gotten around to getting the web site up, please let me know if anyone else needs the docs and I'll email 'em.

So I looked at putting my drivers seat together but I didn't have instructions then and promptly got scared off! Went to my local auto upholstery guy and he quoted me $280 to do the work - one seat - and that's with me supplying all the materials! Needless to say, it's all back home and thanks to Don's help, I'm gonna take a stab at it myself!

happy holidays!

Don, I've been trying to get through to your email address, but it's being blocked for some reason. I could really use these instructions as well. Could you please send them to johnecklandathotmaildotcom? I'm sure this is taking up a lot of your time Don, and I'd just like to say thank you. John.
john eckland

John,

No problem. On its way.

Don

Everyone should know I didn't write these documents. I was able to find them on the web before they were de-posted (I think that's a word). I take no responsability for how your work turns out. It'll probably be better than mine since I have no patience and very little free time to do things right. I'd be interested to see how everyone's project turns out. Please share some before/after photos with us!

Hi Don,

Can you also forward a copy of the interior articles to me.
Thanks

MY Tr6 has really nice covers that the PO must have recently installed but guess what, the foam turning to dust, seems like Ive read that there is some glue involved in this instalation? will I be able to remove them without damage and replace the foam? Anybody have a good place to get foam, are the "big 3 " selling the same product? as I recall it doesnt look like something that would be easy to fab out of sheet foam. Don can I please get a copy of your articals also? Peace and Christmas blessings,Jeff
