Triumph TR6 - Silver wheel paint

Has anyone painted their wheels recently? I've looked at different threads from a few years ago, Duplicolor WP316 at Walmart and NAPA Argent Aluminum Silver were mentioned, but I'm not sure if they're still available as nothing comes up when I do a search. I know I can order from Moss but I'd like to do them this weekend.

Thanks,
Mark

i bought Argent silver at a Ford dealership.
Then all I used it for was to paint a little 3" sq. piece of metal to take to the powder coaters to find a match. They look slick that way and you'll never have to mess with them again!

Well, that didn't work

Don,
They look nice. If I can get 'em in the oven, I think I'll try that. First on the spare:-)

If you want a quick fix I feel like I got a decent result with the duplicolor silver wheel paint available at any parts shop, not to mention WalMart and the like. I think I used 3 cans to do all four wheels front and back. It's a bit more metallic than the original colour, I think, but it looks fine to my eye.

Three hours of blasting, two hours of masking and 10 minutes with the spray can! I need new tyres anyway, and I really wish I had taken them off to do the painting.

Cheers

Here's my spare
Actually it's a redline. An old one at that. maybe original

DON KELLY

Don,
Why isn't that in your car...no wait, I know...the same reason my spare is in the attic!! Sorry.

Well I struck out at our new Super Honking Walmart, apparently they only stock bottles of touch up paint. I never got to the Ford dealership or a NAPA store, another possible source. At another auto parts store, they recommended Plasti-Kote #T41, dull aluminum.
Does anyone know if this number is accurate or suggest a paint number for Plasti-Kote?

Gents,
I haven't visited the board for a while and it's good to be reacquainted with you.
I used light grey wheel paint that was available from Moss, 5 years ago. I did the wheels and caps. Both are standing up well and look correct along with the aluminum trim rings. It's time to replace the cap centers however.
Cheers,

Hi,
In Canada at our Canadian Tire Store their brand of spray cans is
Motomaster 47-3590-6
LT SLATE M
ARDOISE PALE M
GM TK 82-91 17
The can claims it matches GM original paint, so maybe that GM # will help you in the US.
I did my centre hubs and it matches the powder coated rims perfectly.

I ended up using Dupli-Color, Cast Coat Aluminum, DE1650, Ceramic Engine Enamel. It was recommended from another site, for wheels, valve covers, and air cleaners. It appears to be a good match, as I was able to scrape off the WHITE paint, which revealed the original color. Apparently the previous owner wanted his rims to match the white letters on the tires. Anyways, I thought I would follow up with my findings.

Don Kelly,
I'm ready to try to PC my spare. Took about 20 minutes blasting to clean it and the oven will accommodate one wheel at a time. How much powder to you think one wheel will take? I don't want to start the job and run out of powder. I'm kinda low on Argent Silver but may have enough to do the test wheel.

Also did you top coat over the argent with clear powder as Eastwood recommends?
