Triumph TR6 - Soft top installation

Hi guys,I'm attempting to install a new top on my 74 TR6,I need to know the measurements for the webbing.everything I've read says, measure and install, but I have nothing to measure,it rotted away.If you can give me the dimensions to each bar and deck it would be helpfull. Thanks

I would love to help DM but mine is tucked away for the long Canadian Winter. We don't get those long summers like Louisiana does. If you haven't received any info by the weekend, I will pull the cover off and take a few measurements for you.

Take care.

D.M.,
How lucky are you? When I removed my top in what seems like years ago (yikes, it was years) in preparation for this endless journey of restoration, I figured that I might need those straps again as patterns!! Little did I know you'd need them sooner than me, but they have been on my work bench shelf just waiting such an opportunity.

From the fold at one end that goes into the bar to the very end at the other is 52". Then one inch is folded under for the holes on that end making the effective length right at 51 1/4. The holes are canted, I guess outside to inside, but the approximate measurement to each set of holes, again from the fold are: 16 3/4"; 26 3/4"; 38 7/8"; on one side and on the other it's 38 5/8" which seems to be the largest differential between the holes on either side of the web. The last ones are at 51 1/4" or a little less. These measurements will put you in the ballpark, but, I suggest that you cut long and attach the folded end then stretch to the bows for the screw holes and trim only as necessary on the final end. Good luck. If you want photos or more info, respond...dbaker04ATaolDOTCom.

The MAN who has all the answers!

One of my webs decided to frey and break. Is there a source for the web?

Rick,
Go to TRF. Call and talk to John. I'm sure that you can negotiate just one web strab. I have new ones, uninstalled, of course, yet and still have my old ones although they are now...what...36 y/o!! Still plable though and seem to be functional so if push comes to shove and you can't get just one, advise and you can have one of these.

Rick,
One of the TR6 drivers in town here went to a local upholstery shop and came out with webbing for lawn furniture. (I envisioned bright green nylon with white borders!) When I saw the completed project, I couldn't tell the difference....looked OE to me! Try a sample with the local upholsterer! You might get lucky!?!

Hi Rick,
When I did mine I used a 15' tie-down strap which was made from seat belt material. I bought it many years ago at Canadian Tire...not sure it the still have it but it was identical in size

Thanks guys.
I was kinda hoping there was an alternative. I think you can still get that webbing at CDN TIRE.
I do like Rod's idea of getting lucky though.
