Triumph TR6 - Spin on oil filter

Anyone know the Fram equivilant for the spin off oil filter? I managed to scrap off the number.

The one that I used and was told it was "the" one is the PH 3600A. Problem is its rare.

Anybody else use it?

I use the Motorcraft FL400-S. Never seen availability problems.

I recently put on an oil filter adapter and it seems that most Ford V8 filters will fit. (I'm not 100% sure)The only variable was the filter size - long, short, wide or narrow diameter.

I am currently using a Napa Gold # 1516. ( this is a Wix) It is a longer filter but narrow enough to fit between the engine & frame rail.

You might want to reconsider using a Fram oil filter. Apparently the quality isn't too great.
There is some info here - under forums

Yea, what Aivars said. While I haven't had a problem with a Fram unit myself, having looked at them closely they are definitely not the filter that they used to be. The Wix stuff is good. They not only do NAPA, but also several other brands. Without going back for a look-see confirmation, I want to say that Wix does the Bosch and the Mobil 1 filters for example.

I tried a Fram filter [mainly cos someone gave me it for free] and found the oil pressure slower to build up than other makes, usually I had been using Mahle or Unipart filters,

It is the PH3600, a fairly common filter used on many Fords (Taurus/Sable, etc.) and recently the new Jeeps w/ the 3.7l.

I use the Mann & Hummel W719/2. I've used 6 or so of these and they all pump up quickly and consistently. If I had a convenient source for Mahle I'd use them too w/ NAPA/Wix next.

Thanks all! I ended up with a Quaker State 3600. So far so good. But I'm really not sure the spin on is any easier than the cartrige type filter. What a bear of a job.

Hi Bryn
The spin on should be real easy..mine can be changed in a minute or so...are you using a filter that is short and wide as opposed to one that is longer and narrower hence more working room ?

Actually, the problem was I had the adapter positioned incorrectly. Seems okay now. Too bad about Fram filters being such a disappointment. They have this great idea of a no slip grip at the end of the filter. Are you headed to Lindsey for the Brit car show this Sunday?
