Triumph TR6 - steering wheel adaptors

I'm thinking of an aftermarket steering wheel for my TR6 and most that I have looked at seem to have an adaptor that moves the wheel closer to the driver.

Is anyone aware of an adaptor that leaves the steering wheel in the same axial position as the stock wheel - that doesn't bring the wheel closer the the driver?

Thanks in advance,
Brian

Brian,
Check the recent thread "Show off your WOOD dash", down a few lines, still active. Info there about the Moto Lita steering wheels from Rimmer Bros. Get the flat wheel, not the dished one.

Thanks Rod.

I understand the need for a flat wheel, but the ones I've looked at seem to have an adaptor hub that's quite a bit longer (in the axial direction) than the original - which would still bring even a flat wheel closer to the driver.

I was trying to see if anyone had found an adaptor hub that had an combined length the same as the original wheel.

cheers,

Brian,
My wheel is no further from the column switches....or at least not enough for me to notice. I wanted a smaller diameter wheel so I could move around a bit, pretty much got that with the Mota-Lita. Since you're asking about the hub, do you already have a wheel? I believe I could come up with some comparison pictures if you want.

Thanks again Rod. I haven't got the wheel yet and I was thinking of the Mota-Lita knock-off wheel from Moss. When I looked at the adaptor that came with that wheel, I was surprised to see how long it was.

Maybe I should be considering the real Mota-Lita wheel instead.

Comparison photos sound like a lot of trouble, but if you could that that, I would be very grateful.

Cheers,

Hi Brian - I bought an ASTRALI wheel and hub from UK - far less expensive than MotoLita and the smaller diameter, fat leather grip is perfect for me. The hub has he wheel in the same position as the OE wheel.

There is a US distributor.

These distributors have an eBay Shop

If you check the price difference between Moss and Rimmer, Moss is over $200 higher, all in US dollars. Rimmers price includes the hub, $263.25.
Moss is $369.95 for the wheel, $119.95 for the hub.
Sometimes, Moss has a better price, this ain't one of 'em.
Still haven't figured out why these are so high through the suppliers here in the states. The Revolution Alloy wheels I bought were the same way, throught Rimmers, several hundred less, even with shipping & import tariffs.
