Triumph TR6 - Summertime Blues

Its summer in South Florida. Day after day weather forecast is high in the low 90's, 95% humidity, afternoon thunderstorms. It is too hot to do anything!

My poor 71 TR6 sits in the garage all week, and only gets out for a bit on Saturday mornings. Its too hot to wash it in the afternoons! My top has a few holes in it, so it rarely goes up--that means no driving when the rains might come, which is any second.

I can't wait for winter and nicer weather! My projects have to wait--you sweat all over the car if you try to do anything on it this time of year. I want to replace the top, the seats, and someday the interior, but its too hot and humid to even think about it until October. We envy you guys who are enjoying this time of year!

Dear John temp hit 70 F. today for an hour. Most of our summer has been T-shirt longsleeve shirt and sweatshirt daytime. Plus heavy jacket at night down in low fiftys.

Today was real warm and I pulled a tranny and carried around with full coveralls, above all the rest and never broke a sweat?

Since were about 3 months off of our first snowfall please forgive me if I don't show proper concern for your troubles..:)

Global warming "my you know"!

Read an interview with some environmental genius. He pointed out that 92s cold they blame on Mountains eruption dust. Extra hot they blame on Ozone depletion and polution. This there not sure of but they are gathering data.

One thing I am sure of. If you don't have enough brains to get a degree in anything solid. Go into one of the catch phrase Environmental sciences. Lots of funding and you might as well be high paid to guess along with the rest of us.

Before you give me flack about being anti-environment. I disagree with any so called watchdog, politically correct or we must do something now group. Most are designed to create a paycheck for themselves. If anyone thinks Nader for example had any other thoughts. Please do some research.

Many solid sciences have been watching and evaluating data for many years before the flavour of the day groups got on the bandwagon and started sucking up the funding the solid sciences need so badly. My opinion.

By the way John South Florida will still be too hot. So put the air in the garage. Sort of a got to. Like my stove.

Hi Bill
Hard to disagree with you!

Here in good old SW Scotland its 24c [don't know what that is in old money], sunny but a bit breezy, going for a run up the coast road this afternoon yeeha

JL,

Just drive the darn'd thing and quit complaining.

Bill, the environmentalists are whackos, for the most part. Down here, when I was a kid, we could swim in any lake anywhere we wanted without a problem. Then they went and made alligators an endangered species, and pretty much every year, some kid gets killed by one because they are all over the place.

I just need to get the roof in decent shape and I could drive it this time of year, despite sticking to the seats and sweating buckets!

Can't wait for November through May!

John,
Why don't you patch up the holes? I did some repair on my roof and it works. At least for now, and of course, time will tell. Check my new tread, because I want to share this with the others.

I'm not all that old (47 in October) and I remember the Global Cooling Craze in the early 70's. (My sixth grade class made a home movie about pollution.)

Now it's the reverse. A little louder, but the same emotional response to inconclusive data. (As if man could really affect the global climate like a volcano or meteor.)

Ya wanna know something? The sun makes it hot. Sometimes it gets cold. That's the world we live in.

I'm just happy to see the sun from the seat of my LBC. If I'm too hot, I drive faster. If I'm too cold, I bundle-up and turn on the heat.
