It seems a shame to have a car and not drive it! The Barret-Jackson auction is coming up this weekend here and I may go check it out. Last year, it was absolutely unbelievable to look at the level of restoration of the cars they auction. As my one son said, though, the only guys bidding were either old guys (like a few of us here) with a lot of money or young professional athletes. But they do have some very cool cars. John |

what are those mutant lumps of rubber on the front bumper? please tell me they weren't compulsory additions for the US market!! |
james |
James sadly yes the uglyest this on the car and to remove them leaves you with a 3 peice bumper, Not a bad idea on the rear though especially if driving in Florida, They give some vague protection from the hoardes of little old ladies in their Caddys or Lincon town cars at least |

James What planet did you say you where from? Yes Clive you (and us up here in Cannuck land) can thank your neighbours out on the west coast. Interesting the 6 has no mirrors and has a US dealer supplied luggage rack. I guess the dealer thought the car better be more practical than safe to drive. Rick C |

Rick I'm from Bristol,England,UK. I know they replaced MG bumpers for rubber ones that completely killed the cars classic character but I didn't realize they did the same to the TR6. Have you got any pictures of the first TR6 off the line? J |
james |
james Can not say I have any of the first...can say I have of the last thanks to Clive and Charlie. When Californy said add the bumpers for low impact crash purposes the folks at MG went overboard and yes made the look not so appealing. The folks in Coventry however, did the cheap route and got away with it. These can be removed on a TR at least..but then not original. Rick C |

James Those of us with 76's think our ladies should have big bumps on their fronts..it adds to the sex appeal! bob 76-6 |

Bob: Well said old chap! I guess then that a bra would be appropriate attire for a '76? Cheers, Bob '76 - 6 |

Is there a link to this site (TR6 BBS Members Site) via members sign-on. I cannot seem to find a link or hasn't the webmaster updated our "members" web site so we don't have to boot of the threads Am I missing something Kevin Farley Melbourne |

For James from Bristol, England Click on Charlie Ballard's web site for TR6's (well, mostly TR6's) and you will see the earlier TR6's without the big rubber bumper over-riders. http://ca.geocities.com/trchas6/ BTW, if you want to see more TR's, check with the Glavon TR Register Group who meet on the 3rd Thursday of the month at Hunters Hall, a pub in Kingscote near Dursley. They are a nice group and the pub is very nice as well. Tel:- 01453 845184 or www.glavontrs.co.uk Don Elliott, Original Owner, 1958 TR3A http://www.zen21606.zen.co.uk/Forum%20Gallery/don3a2_big.jpg |
