Triumph TR6 - There Goes the Neighborhood

Hi Folks:

Beautiful sunny day yesterday but no TR as the brake master cylinder has not yet arrived. Heard this ungodly loud racket from the neighbor's garage so wandered over with a couple wobbly pops. Source was a silver-gray 2005 Viper roadster. Very comfy and really nicely constructed; fits like a glove. $128K CDN - Nice car - but it ain't a TR!! Would love to drive it tho'

Cheers,
Bob

Umurkin car? I'd still prefer the TR. The Viper would be nice to try, but the chicks still dig the classics!
D Hasara

Viper is nice.
But lets break it down. All American roadsters were inspired by European cars. Cobra's, Vettes and yes Viper's all those roadsters would not be here today. The term roadster is indeed Euro influenced. With the influence of some greats from across the pond, such as Jag, ACE, Ferrari, Posche...I could gone on.

But having said that. Our stars and stripes friends have really perfected the art of speed while mocking. Hats off to you.
Marcello

I think the Viper is actually assembled on Mars (looks it anyways) hence, the high sticker price.
Bob, is a wobbly pop the same as a beer? Please pardon my naivety.

Do we have "jealious" going again here?

Chris after toooo many beer, what do you start to do?

You'd rather drive the TR6 over the viper....hum.....have another wobbly pop!

John Parfitt

Chris:

Rick & Charlie call'em wobbly pops all the time & nobody comments. Oh well, yeah, it's beer - real Canadian beer with alcohol & teeth in it. Drink a Canadian 6-pack & you'll see what wobbly is all about. Anyway, on the jealousy issue guys I should qualify;I'd rather own a TR, not drive one in favor of the Viper. I can own the TR but the bank would always own the Viper. I sure would like to drive it. My good buddy has a nice Vette and that's fun to drive too. Bags of horsepower but it ain't a TR either. There's not much out there I'd trade my TR for. It's fun, easy to fix and looks great. Suits me.

Cheers,
Bob

Yes, I know about real Canadian beer with teeth in it! I live in Oklahoma where beer with teeth in it is legislated against. I can get my Guiness and Bass in "liquor stores" (before 9p.m.)
Besides Molson, what are some good beers from Canada...I'll check and procure some.
not yet wobblin'
Chris
c.a.e. emenhiser

This could start a whole new thread! Molson is OK for a quick thirst quench, but there are many fine Canadian brews to suit any occasion. When I'm in a Jaguar mood, I like the sophistication of a Sleeman's Honey Brown Ale, but a TR6 frame of mind is better suited to a Big Rock Warthog Ale. If anyone else has some suggestions, I'll be sure to try 'em.

Tony (doesn't mix wobbling with driving)
A. J. Koschinsky

Sleeman has two new beers, Dark and bottled draft.
Both are excellent. So is just about everything from Upper Canada brewing company.
Someone could give me a Viper but I'would trade it in
in a NY minute for the cash and then I could buy a TR4,
a Spitfire, a Stag and build an addition to my garage.
The Viper is pretty remarkable but have you seen the new prototype Firepower that is based on the viper chassis, Whoa, very pretty.
Christopher Trace

Chris, Tony,
I've enjoyed great beers from around the globe. When living in Europe about 25 years ago, I became particularly fond of a German beer called Eichbaum (Oak Tree), a rather mild lager; but the libation for a fine stead as the TR6, nothing short of a wee dram of a fine single malt such as Talisker, Glenrothes or McCallan will do.

We started with Vipers and Sixes and are now on beer and scotch. Not it has come to this...

Including the majestic møøse

A Møøse once bit my sister ...

No realli! She was Karving her initials on the møøse with the sharpened end of an interspace tøøthbrush given her by Svenge - her brother-in-law - an Oslo dentist and
star of many Norwegian møvies: "The Høt Hands of an Oslo Dentist", "Fillings of Passion", "The Huge Mølars of Horst Nordfink".

Since we're continuing to change the subject and also talking about some of the good things of Canada I will add to our Canadian freinds that I think the 'Guess Who' should have been in the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland years ago. And why are'nt they in there now? And by the way...thanks for some of your commedians too....Dan Ackroyd and more...

Favorite Canadian Beers:

or
MooseHead another golden nectar thats sure to flog a sinus headache
or
my standby beer when no others are about Sleemans Cream Ale Guelph ON
Alexander Keiths Cream Ale best TV commercials, imported from Nova Scotia
Favorite Imports:
Stella Artois liquid girlfriend
Thomas Caffreys Cream Ale
Kilkenny cream
and so on and so on and so on, LOL!!

Henry, I think we've stayed within the subject. After you advance your timing, trying to make it start, idle and rev better, you bust open a Canadian Wobbly pop (from the list above). You detect a hesitation when you gun the engine but you're truly enjoying your first of many wobblies. It is at this point you begin retarding the timing (as well as everything else).

Seeing the light,
Chris

At this point of the thread I would like to remind the viewing audience that all "wobbly pop" comsumption is done under proper supervision, and not while in control of a Brittish vehicle.

When it comes to all things Canadian,

*The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will ALWAYS be illegitimate until the boys of Rush are inducted.

*CJTR http://www.cjtr.ca/ in Regina is one of my favorite on-line radio stations - TRUE community radio (and I like the 'TR' in their call letters).

* Thanks for suggestions on the wobbly pops. Since the Indy 500 has become a joke, I no longer get my annual fix of REAL Canadian beer (much better than what is imported to the US) from my Canadian buddies that camp near Turn 4 (I seldom go anymore, and neither do they). I'm thinking a weekend trip to TO is in order!

*Jacques Villeneuve was amazing. A joy to watch coming through the ranks. Shame that he has come to this. It may have to do with him living in Monaco.... when he lived in Canada, he won everything in sight!

*Paul Tracy. Nuff said.

*Margo Timmons of the Cowboy Junkies - MMmmmmm..... If you haven't heard her sing "Blue Moon," late at night with the lights turned off, you havent lived!

Oh yeah, and I don't want ANY car with a computer in it as my "toy" car.

When I pick up chicks in my TR6 I can tie their walkers to the luggage rack. Where would you put them in a Viper?
Doug Campbell

I'm from Oregon. We do it right. We brew our own wobly pop. I think I'll use that name for my next batch.
skikir

can't help myself...Jacques Villeneuve is a whinner sorry to say that contributed to his demise. Shuey is the king.
M SIDDALL

Can't believe I started this over a Viper. Anyway, I like Stella Artois, and Beck's beer and Lagavulin 16 yr old Islay Malt scotch. Canadian beer, aside from the usual - Sleeman's is good, Red Dog too and 1892 Ale from Quidi Vidi Brewing in old St. John's is a pretty ballsy beer.
Look at www.newfoundlandbeer.com They have some good strong beers. Anybody working on the TR's? Or are we all into the beer?

Cheers (hic)
Bob
Bob Evans

Say, Bob, I'll be your way this week. Plan to stop in to see Linda at Inn of Olde in Quidi Vidi. Since I'm from away, I obviously won't be driving my TR. Incidently I bought mine from Len Drake as well and drove it back to Ontario.

Pete:

Check your e-mail. Len's a good guy and I got good value for the money for my 6. We'll have to have a Quidi Vidi 1892 Ale to celebrate your arrival. May be some icebergs around so we can go have a gander at them.

Cheers.

Just thought I would add my ten cents worth.
I emmigrated from South Africa to Canada 7 years ago. 40 above to 40 below in one day!

Best things Canadian?.....the BEER and the Tragically Hip.
Try Big Rock BLACK AMBER,Moosehead, and Kootenay Mountain Ale.

To hell with the Viper. Any British sports car is more fun.

Cheers.Neil.
Neil Peniston

Bob, I did not get your email. I forgot to change my email on this site. Can you resend to "peterussell6atsympaticodotca" I will be on business from Wed to Sat night, so sure we could find time to quaff a Quidi Vidi brew.
Cheers
