Triumph TR6 - time to put the 6 up for the summerj!
All you guys who have to put up with cold, nasty winter weather can start gloating now. We have a week of close to 90 degree temps and 90% humidity, and it will stay this way until mid October or so. Can't drive the car to work, because we could have a monsoon any afternoon--driving a TR6 in the rain, with the top up and no AC isn't a pretty sight down here. And it is a real pain to sit down on black vinyl seats in this kind of heat! And, you can't do much work on the car in the garage because the sweat gets all over the car, makes things slippery and gets in your eyes. This is God's idea of payback, I think, for the beautiful winters we have. John |

John I think it still beats 11 months of winter and 1 month of tough sledding! I will think of you the next morning I drive to work at +3 C (37 F) That will probably be tomorrow. Brrrrrrrian |

Hi John Why bother putting the top up when it's raining, thats what the big round rubber bungs on the floor are for LOL Ron |

Hi John Its May 28 and I just opened my pool today. May get 2 months for Grandkids to swim if lucky. Have a gas heater that helps. I did have a heavy jacket on mid afternoon doing it. Thats the beuty of a pool here if its too cold to swim you can always skate. Reason we produce the best hockey players you know. Temp is currently 37F deg and may go down to 33F or even below freezing overnight they say. Pool water is 59F so for a brave sort may feel warm for a minute or 2 compared. As for your garage spend a couple of hundred bucks on the insulation and a window air conditioner. Not sure how big your garage is but up here that whole deal would be under $500 if you do it yourself and scrounge a bit. Ron have you noticed the flanges for those bungs are 1/4 inch above the rest of the floor? Always wondered why? At least they are on the Heritage replacements. Thought mine were flanged down on originals but bodys in storage and havn't had time to look. Bill |

Hi Bill The original floor pans were flanged up as well, always assumed it was to make it more difficult to get the last of the water out!! Ron |

Interesting that Coventry would put such large holes in the floor pan. I mean, what where they expecting to happen to TR6s? Rick C |

Thanks for confirm Ron Rick I think it was for expediency the 37th time the Lucas lighting system failed and a right thinking Brit wife wound up in a canal. Not all are as tolerant as Bryn's girlfriend? Enough of this crap say's she! Pull the damn plugs and sink her before the constables come. We'll walk home? Bill |

At the All British Field Meet in Portland OR 2 years ago, I saw a TR3 owner use a screw type jack that stuck up through that hole in the floor pan! Same floor pans? If you saw a TR3 frame alongside a TR6 frame, the basic difference is the outriggers for the IRS trailing arms. My guess is the floor pan stampings are very similar, especially when you consider the lineage. Cheers...Rod |

It is getting worse with no break in sight! Today is supposed to be a high in the 90's with humidity similar. Oh well, it only lasts for about 5 months. |

Ah Yes, Colorado, high in the upper 70's no humidity, clear blue skies, no stinking love bugs, back country twisty mountain roads to enjoy. I used to live in Florida so I do miss the water though. bob g 1978 Pageant Blue MGB 1976 Inca Yellow TR6 1973 Green Mallard MGB 1966 OEW MGB-GT |
