Triumph TR6 - tire pics on your car

Hi there going to be buying new tires in the spring.Just wondering if you guys could post some pics, with all the different brands and sizes available? cheers

Hi Ian,
I went with the Michelin Hydro-Edge 205-70 R15. It measures about 26.3" diameter... very close to the original 26.5" tires so the speed-o should be reasonably close. All of the consumer reports rate these tires well although they are noisier than some. I wanted a product that would be good on the dry and during the occasional west coast summer deluge. They are directional and have deep siping channels.

Thanks Rob, i was thinking of buying these tires or the goodyear triple treads. They are rated #1 and 2 on tirerack.Nice wheels i was looking at buying the gold ones myself but ended up with dayton chrome wire wheels. Yours are a lot more practicle, what colour is the body?

I really like the 205/70 x 15 size on the TR6. It's a very subjective opinion, but in my mind this size is an evolution of the appearance of the original size. 60 series are "too low" a profile for the rest of the car, but again that's just an opinion.

Ian,
These are Michelin Harmony 205-70R15, mounted on 15 X 6 Revolution alloys. I liked the wider stance, without getting carried away....and they don't rub.

Thanks Rod nice wheels your suspension is it stock?

Ian,
Springs are stock, so no lowering. KYB shocks front and rear.

Hey Rod
Is that a project I see in the back ground??

Rick,
That car belonged to my best friend...best man at our wedding, and the first TR6 I drove or even sat in. It changed hands, and was at our house for a short period of time when we were getting our car on the road. Lotsa memories in that TR6.
If you look closely, you can see the dents on the front fender flare. He was driving home one night, and said he had a really bright light in front of him. When he opened his eyes (YIKES) the really bright light was a shower of sparks from the guard rail he was rubbing against at 70 MPH. Too many barley pops! :)

Don,
Did you talk your wife into San Luis Obispo yet???? I'm bettin' that'd be easier cruisin long distances than a TR6! ;)

I have been running Michelin Hydro-Edge 205-70R15 tires mounted on Panasports for 3 years now, and absolutely love them. Very good grip in all weather situations, fills wheel wells nicely and look good. Will not fit in spare tire well. Have a stock-sized Vredestein in there.
The Michelins are pricey but show very little wear after 20K miles.

Bill You slummin down here?

Hi Don, I took a wrong turn at BCF. Cool site. This your home?

Hi Ian

My contribution is not what you asked for (pic of tires off the car) but I just took delivery of 4 new radials from Diamondback Classics in NC. They are 205/70-15 all season radials made by Hancook & dressed up by Diamondback with their vulcanized redline to look period correct. When I get them home and mounted (2 months away) I'll look for this thread and post a pic with them on the car. At first glance they look great and the service from db was as promised.

Another pic to follow...

One more pic...

FWIT I'll post when the new rubber is on the car and I've driven on them. Screech, vroom, etc.

Interestingly, a friend has a concours 240Z that he just managed to score a set of 16" Panasports with low-profile Michelins for. Beware of going with low-profile tires! Handles well but the ride was destroyed. Super harsh, feels every bump in the road now. I see some TR6 drivers have vied for the 16 Pans but I don't believe they are running low-profiles. Big mistake.
