Triumph TR6 - Tire Pressure

I am interested in what air pressure folks prefer to use that have Yokohama AVID 205/70/15 tires. I am running 26 up front and 28 in the rear. Thanks.

Hi Shawn

I fitted the same size Yokohama TRZ tires last year and ran with 24/28 (my first drving season after 6 years with an MGB). Opinions on the MGB BBS were mixed but were typically 4 psi above the handbook values for the original tires. So far I am happy with the handling - still getting used to the feel of the IRS.

Barry,
Thank for the info. Just took my TR out today after being in storage all winter in Boston. I just finished refoaming seats and installing shocks all around including a tube conversion in the rear. TR rides significantly better now!

Hi Shawn and Barry,

I am just exploring the purchase of a new set of tires for my TR6 and perhaps tires for a few club members here on Vancouver Island.... a bulk buy might make for a least expensive buy. I would be pleased to hear from anyone with any of the following tire makes/models as this is what I have narrowed the potential purchase down to:

Michelin Hydro Edge, BF Goodrich Traction TA , Goodyear Triple Tread. These are all directional tires with a T speed rating and AB traction/temp. The Michelin's have an 800AB tread wear out warranty, Goodrich 620AB, Goodyear 700AB.

They are all a bit modern in appearance for my taste but all seem to be highly rated on tirerack.com etc. Any comments on this overly hashed out topic from the group out there would be appreciated... before we purchase 10 sets of something less than terrific.

Thanks,
Rob

Hi Rob

I have no experience with the tires that you listed. The Yokohama AVID TRZ tires were recommended by the person at TIRE DEPOT (www.tiredepot.com). I went there based on my son's own good experience with advice and price when buying tires for his two daily drivers. I remember that Goodyear Triple Tread model was another candidate but the Yoko won out.

Rob i will be purchasing the triple treads. We run these tires on my wifes car and agree with the ratings, they are rated #1 in their class! Ian

I too am running the Yokohama AVID 205/70/15 on a car with stiff and lowered springs and I find that 26 front/28 back has been the best combination so far
