Triumph TR6 - TR6 proto-type pictures
Hello guys, Thought you might enjoy these early pre 1969 TR6 photos..note the front grill... I'm glad they re-designed it! I wish we could have talked to those guys and suggested a couple of improvements !! haha Charlie http://members.rogers.com/sharethree |

Charlie. Excellant Photos. A closure look reveals that it has a TR4/TR4a/TR5 Surrey Top fitted. I wonder when they decided to go with the one-piece redesigned TR6 Hardtop. I suppose if you now fitted a Surrey Top to a TR6 it wouldn't be un-original. Perhaps Rimmers might start re-making them for TR6s. They would be better than the one-piece, great for sunny days and keep the wind off your the back of your neck. I have a mate with a TR5 with Surrey and it's great on cold days and you still can see the clouds and stars. Let see what eventuates Kevin |

Neil Revington in England sells Surrey tops for the TR6. They are new and he designed them. They can have a "sort-of" roll bar integrated with the top of the rear window. Unfortunately, I couldn't find it on his site last week. http://www.revingtontr.com/ For more details, contact Neil. Don Elliott, 1958 TR3A |

The TR6 prototype technically has what the factory called a hard top. The Surrey Top was an optional soft center section. A small tubular frame mounted to the backlight frame and the windscreen frame, the soft top was then fitted to the frame and to snaps on the backlight and windscreen frames. It could be removed, folded and stashed in the boot, the removable center panel of the hard top would not fit there. You should find the listings for the backlight frame and Surrey top under the TR5 listing at Revington. They are/will also have a hard center section that is split so it may be fitted in the boot instaed of left at home. Don't have any other details, it was something that was mentioned when they were contacted about bits for a TR250. Exchange rate/shipping is a bit of a killer right now out of the UK, so be prepared to part with some brass if you elect to go that route. |
