Triumph TR6 - TR6 Ignition - help needed

Hi

My Tr6 igntition has failed; it's a Rawtronic fitted by the PO. In essence, the 'bulb' no longer lights, so I get a spark in daylight with the cap removed, but no spark with the cap in place.

I'd like to return to a 'points'-based system, but don't have the original base-plate.

Does anyone have a spare base-plate?
I'm based in Malvern. Even a loan would be good, so I can be back on the road asap.

Thx.

Please email.

Have you considered a Pertronix system? The pickup should be mountable on most any baseplate with a bit of fettling.

Lucy!!! Where is Malvern???

....methinks it's in the UK...... sometimes this board thinks it's OK to post UK member's comments as it is based there....what a cheek! ;-)

Problem fixed; sourced a s/h base-plate complete. Fitting was <5mins and the engine started first time.

Will indeed recommend Richard fits the Pertronix system at some point. I used to use one on my Aseries over many years with no problems. What I don't understand is why people fit more expensive, complex and less reliable optical systems (Hall Effect rocks).

Malvern in in Worcs (Worcestershire), England. Is that like me asking where is Riverside,Ca?

Yes indeedly doodly, Hall Effect based systems do rock!
