Triumph TR6 - Trafficator slowing

I thought I had all electrical issues resolved. When the trafficators are turned on, right or left, the signals flash as normal. However, after flashing for a short time, the flash begins to slow and eventually stops flashing entirely. The lights then remain on. Any ideas?

Hi John

.... me thinks that the flasher relay is KAPUT. Replace the unit and see what happens.... cheap and quick.

The turn-signal flasher unit is brand new if that is what you mean by flasher relay.

You may have a bum flasher unit John.

Not much else will explain the problem you describe.

However, depending upon the year of your car, the turn signal and emergency 4 ways are interconnected in different ways and perhaps there may be some interference going on.

You have 2 different units. I think, there is 1 under the pass footwell that does just the turns. I am not sure how much the hazard flasher controls the turns if any. Also maybe the hazard switch is Fubar and since they run through it that could be a culprit too.

Thanks guys, the turnsignal flasher in the footwell is new. I know all wires go thru the hazzard switch but, when I bypass the switch, the signals work but eventually slow.

John- This struck a Fuzzy memory moment and did some checking. There are bad flasher units out there. Where did you get it? Also the turn stalk if it gets old will do similar.
How are the flashers?
Too many choices

Don, The hazzard flashers work fine. The turn-signal flasher unit was bought from a British restoration shop in Toronto. I have emailed the shop as they may have a suggestion.

The further I go I suspect that the flasher unit is defective. I cannot see a defective turn-signal switch causing the flash to deteriorate. However, this problem is new to me.

Another fellow blogger had similar problems and it was the switch .Only reason I put that in.
No chance you've changed bulbs recently?
