Way too uncivilised for my devious mind.
Love the sleeper concept. Quietly do unto others and then split has always been my motto...:)

My own invention resulted from creating a step for a very high off-road truck. Buddy didn't want the nerf bar or step sticking out so we fooled with a retracting setup air driven. All parts surplus buck 98 type stuff. Actuating prototype fired one loose part half way cross the shop.

So to leave a car highjacker/the evil squeegie kid or any other jerk laying on the road screaming while you calmly drive away. Give your shins a whack with a wrench??? Then make something like this for 20 bucks.

2 pieces 1/2" diameter lengths of hard plastic rod. One for each side. Devised by whatever mechanical means suits the car to sit just under your sills hidden. Driven by air cylinder(s). Cheap ones don't usualy have long cylinder stroke so lever mechanism is needed. Self retracting about 16" to 24" should do. Just incase they have long arms? Small gas station fillable air canister. Actuator of some type. Get the idea?

Disclaimer
90 psi is Lethal weapon 3 by the way driving steel. Ever used an air chizzle?
So just incase someone has an evil mind like my own and thinks steel rod? Use the plastic. They will still fall but won't need a surgeon to walk again. Limping in about an hour?

Bill Brayford

Bill funny u should mention that because that is exactly the current (it appears older now) technology that is used in Johannesburb. There is one small difference though to your suggestion. They use flat bar stock steel. This was an article in the National G.
The cops shoot first and ask questions later.
With this new technology you take all the fun out of the cops job.
Puts a new meaning to crispy critter.
