Triumph TR6 - Valve Stem Seals
Anyone have an opinion on/experience with these? I'm particularly interested in knowing if these Teflon(?) donuts can be put on without machining the tip of the valve guides. Thanks. Rick O. |

Rick As far as I'm aware you don't need to do any machining, I have also been told that the later type MG seals are better than the earlier donut ones. There is a method of fitting them without removing the cylinder head described in the UK Moss catalogue, I'm going to give it a go later this summer when I have more time as I am drawing more oil down the inlet guides on the override than I would like. [I'm only going to fit them to the inlets] Ron |

Rick, I am not aware of any of the teflon valve stem seals that will fit on a dual spring application without either turning down the guides before install or fly cutting them if already installed. A local guy that primarily does drag race stuff set my head up with teflon seals, set spring seat pressures, etc. Many years ago I did find a rubber hat with teflon ring unit from Perfect Circle that would fit on single spring applications. I seem the recall the part number was VS-19. |

Thanks for the help Ron and Steve. Think I'll disconnect the external oil feed first and re-assess the oil consumption. Then go for the MG seals on the intakes per the Moss UK suggestion. Sure wish Moss USA catalogued all the bits in the Moss UK catalog! The difference is significant. Rick O. |

Hey Rick and Ron, Can you let us know how that works out? I've noticed (last fall) some valve guide smoke on startup. I would appreciate the information you glean. Tanks, Jim |

I'm no expert, but I think the material "viton" is supposed to be better than teflon for these. |
