Triumph TR6 - vinyl glue

I am gluing the vinyl pads on the top of my 71 doors. Any suggestion on the type of glue that will not seperate in the sun?

Hi John

I used 3M super weatherstrip adhesive (I saw it recommended somewhere) about 2 years ago and have had no problems so far. Of course, mine don't have the handle moulded in, so probably not as stressed as those on a '71. I always use the top of the door, rather than the handle, to close the door anyway.

How about an exterior water soluable glue. When I took my pads off it looked like "Contact C".

I used regular contact cement and it has held no problem for 3 years. I have a 69 with the pull handle moulded in the vinyl pad.

John, I also used Contact Cement over ten years ago now and it has stayed stuck.

Hmmm, I didn't know you were supposed to glue these things...but then, I'm not there yet and its' been so long since I removed them, I don't have a clue how they were afixed.
