Triumph TR6 - VIRUS WARNING
Just recieved an e-mail that looked suspicious from JimD. Shows his actual mail address. Guess where it would be coming from? Virus checker says it is BagelJ virus a mass mailer |
Bill Brayford |
Up date: second scan after saving and scanning shows it as Netsky.D worm again a mass mailer. This one uses the infected computer to send to everyone in the address book without users knoweledge. Be very wary of any mail coming in from anyone on the list. Especially with no real info and just an attachement. |

Bill My Anti Virus Prog stopped about 6 emails with the Netsky.D worm on Friday night, none of them came from anyone recognisable, but it was as you say, no real info and an attachment [which the AVP destroyed] Ron |

Hi Ron Yah it must be silly month I get all kinds lately. Only reason I posted was this one came from someone I know has me in there adress book. Kind of threw me as I think Jim said he was going on holidays? Bill |

Beats me how they do it - too many brains and not enough humanity. When I first posted on this (and another) board, I got a shirtload of stuff. Figured it was from including my email address as a hotlink with the post. I now post with it hidden (not shown in left hand column) but it is always available through the members section if someone needs it. Anti-viral subscriptions are worth their weight in gold!! Roger |

Agree with Roger, I don't put my email addy on any forums, the only time I did it early on I got an email from the Nigerian Princess scammer among some even less savoury ones Ron |

Ah..come on Ron. You mean u do not want 5% of 50,000,000? In '98 I told posters this BB not to put REAL e-mail addresses in the threads. I was told back then that the slug that wants your address can come to this board and automatically pull out the addresses. I have also been told that it is not necessasarily u than is being spammed but your ISP is. You just happen to be on THEIR list. What better place is there to go to than an ISP for a whole bunch of valid e-mail addresses? About a year ago, I started getting up to 100 spams a day. Then my generious ISP sold to me, for a buck a month, a spam blocker and virus blocker (at their source). Very kind of them! Sometimes I wonder if the creators of anti-spam and virus checkers have a few slugs in the basement doing a "make work project" for the fellas up stairs who fix it and tell you and I you better keep sending us your money so you can keep upgrading.....food for thought. Anyway...hay Bill, glad to see you got to be the 100th poster to your thread! Don E; thank-you for making me aware that I am above average:) Rick C |

Hi Bill I'm quite fortunate, my son is my ISP so he protects a computer illiterate like me from the big bad world [usually] Ron |

Hi Guys I added a couple of xxs to mine on this forum and things have slowed down alot. Only one my e-mail is on. Seems though one of the largest spammers was in Canada 20 clicks away from me. Yahoo traced them back and have just charged them. Yah RickC I wonder to. Must be a lot of creative but poor virus creating whakos out there just wanting to go to jail otherwise? Now as far as the old I am a Nigerian Princess deal goes I wonder why no one has updated it to I have Saddams money yet? Not a very creative bunch at best? Bill |

Do not open files from ########@kolenescena.com It is the NETSKY virus. IT tried twice to send it to me. Rick C |

I use a front like getto.net for my email. This automatically forwards to my real email. Should I get too much junk through the getto front, I simply choose another name with them. This helps a lot when you need to give an address to anyone other then family and friends (yes, I do consider you my friends, but I refuse to post my real address out there for any spammer to skim and bombard). Don in Jersey (with too much TR fixing to do to sit here and type all day) |
