Triumph TR6 - Windscreen Glass - Source?

Can anyone tell me where one can buy a new or good used windscreen for a 76 TR6? The usual suspects seem to sell clear windshields, not tinted. Suggestions much appreciated.

TRF occasionally has the tinted,or they did.

Thanks Don but no luck there. TRF has related parts and door glass but I found no windscreens on their website. No matter, Rimmer Bros have both clear & tinted @ $165.00. plus shipping.

Ken,
A local glass company here in Boise got a windshield for me in 2 days. Although readily available, it was not the OE style "Triplex". Oddly enough, the name of the glass shop is "Triumph Auto Glass"! Cost about $150 installed. Did you check with any local shops? As fast as they came up with one in Boise, Idaho, I'd have to think someone could come up with one there, and in less than a few days. Did I read or hear that Triplex glass is available again??

HI Ken

Did you call TRF? They show the tinted windscreens on page 172 of their glovebox catalogue. I know that they often don't have things in stock, but I would at least give them a call - they have 25% off list price at the moment too.

Rod: I'm checking around for the chappy who is restoring my 6. He's on the west coast (Vancouver) and since he is in the car game I'm thinking he checked locally... not sure though. Did not think in local terms myself so thanks for the wake up.

Alistair: Brain cramp at this end. I looked again at that TRF book and found the glass on page 172. Could be my age, could be the meds, or both! L0L

Thanks guys. Ken

Ken, give Dave a call @ TRF. Bet they will hook you up, might not be right away. Freight from UK on something that size could be costly. I got my tinted windshield locally about 8 years ago. It still hasn't seen the outside of the garage.

Hi Ken,

still waiting for that car eh? Pilkington , a glass manufacturer, makes a tinted windscreen part no. FW001146 GTPNII They are made in mexico and are a good fit to the WS frame. I installed mine with my dad on Thanksgiving.... ten minutes before dinner.... he was in the glass buisiness for about 50 years and remembers the "routine" well. The WS costs was about $100 3 years ago and is almost certainly for sale by the usual suspects.

Cheers, Rob

Hi Rob... nice to hear from you! I remember the pix you sent of a French Blue 6... a real beauty. Yes, I'm still waiting. You may recall the car is in lower mainland BC. It should be ready soon but it'll be just my luck that it gets shipped into a southern Ontario winter storm! Thanks for the tip on the windscreen. I think the restorationist found one recently and may have it in place already. I'll check.
